About this listen

Some stories can kill....

Italian director Nicolo Funelli's lost film comes alive when the maven of the macabre is released after 20 years of VHS imprisonment. New hire Annie Watkins' pre-emptive obituaries at Live @ Five New Orleans News seem to be killing off famous people. A used delivery van causes Katie and Gavin's life to take an unimaginable wrong turn into very dark territory. A teen orphan with a unique ability is held captive in a secret government lab, forced to submit to their whims. Vacationers become a grotesque part of the Easter festivities in a small English town.

Tune in, sit back, and turn up the terror with Video Nasties...16 dark tales and a television pilot script certain to keep you wide awake at night. But don't touch that dial...it just might kill you.

Good horror stories

This is a collection of sixteen short horror stories about different subjects. Some are gruesome, some are claustrophobic, others cause psychological horror. I found the quality level to be variable, and while I enjoyed some of them, others didn’t touch me.

Rick Gregory’s narration was adequate for this material, delivering the story without interfering, with a very clear diction and the right nuances to make the characters distinguishable. All in all, an enjoyable narration.

I would recommend this book to anyone into horror, and the format of the stories makes them perfect to listen to during short idle moments.

I received a copy of this book in audio format from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.

Excellently written and narrated collection

An excellently written and narrated collection of shorts. I am a fan of Duncan's work. Gregory's too as a matter of fact. Nice.

Good shorts

Good shorts, good listen. Really liked the narrator, excellent choice. I knew by the cover that I'd enjoy this one. Would listen to more from this author.

Awesome Short Form Horror!

Horror is my favorite genre so it's no surprise that I loved 'Video Nasties.' These stories range from terrifying to totally campy and include much of what's in between. Often these collections are hit and miss, with some stories being excellent and some sub par. Not this collection! I enjoyed all of these short stories immensely and would recommend this collection to anyone who enjoys the horror genre.

Collection of short horror stories

Great collection of horror stories. I do warn that there are a number if the shorts that are unsuitable for listening to by children (graphic sexual scenes). The stories as a whole are a wonderful group of macabre and terrifying tales. Most of them revolve around VHS or other recording devices hence the video nasty title as well as one of the main shorts carrying that title. Enjoy. Great book for the Halloween season!

Looking for some scary stories for the Halloween season? Video Nasties was great! It's a collection of 16 creepy short stories, some better than others, but all were great and very creative. Great narration by Rick Gregory! I also want to applaud the author for the cover art on this book. Very nostalgic! Good cover art is always a nice touch, at least in my opinion.

Great short horror story collection

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This one was a pleasant surprise to me. For me, short story books like these generally have a handful I like and the rest I have to suffer through. For this one, I really enjoyed most, if not all of them. I liked some more than others, but there were none I felt I had to just suffer through it until the next story.

I loved the stories, hated the ending to the last.

SPOILERS !!

I believe that at the end it was kind of a sloppy dead end. I wish that the author put more into it instead of leaving it in the dark. It would’ve been more immersive if it was longer.

Or maybe I just didn’t want it to stop LOL

Excellent nasty stories

First time I have listened to this author and he is definitely on my radar now. Very good collection of short stories. Nothing too scary but all unique and all quite good. Most anthologies are 25% fantastic, 50% mediocre, and 25% terrible. This book definitely swung more towards the fantastic side. Narrator as always does a great job and really brings you into the stories.
