About this listen

Charley Brewster is a horror movie fan, a kid with an active imagination. So, when he begins telling people that his new next-door neighbor is a vampire, no one believes him. Not the police, not his girlfriend Amy, not even the school weirdo Evil Ed.

But Charley's seen the coffin and the bodies drained of blood and knows he will be the vampire's next victim. When Charley can't get anybody to believe him, he turns to TV horror host Peter Vincent, who used to be the "great vampire killer" of the movies.

Can these mortals save Charley and his sweetheart Amy from the wrathful bloodsucker's toothy embrace?

This is the novelization based on the classic horror film written and directed by Tom Holland that redefined the genre and birthed a thousand knock-offs. The novelization were written by splatterpunk staples John Skipp and Craig Specter.

This special audiobook edition is narrated brilliantly by horror icon Peter Atkins (Hellraiser, The Wishmaster), who reminds us that there are still some very good reasons to be afraid of the dark.

I am a big fan of the movie that the book is based off and I also found the book to be just as good. The Audio book is very good too.

Wonderfully narrated!

Peter Atkins wonderfully narrates this novelization of one of my favorite films. It was like visiting Fright Night for the first time. Really great.

Great short vampire story!

Always loved the original movie. Never read the book. Just finished it. Loved it! Nice easy short listen. Creepy and gruesome vampire stuff. Love it!

The problem - It’s too short

It’s my favorite vampire movie! This novelization is good. We know a few more things about the characters. Great Voice. Greetings from the southern Chile.

Insufferable Narrator

I couldn't even get through the first hour. Why would you get a brit to narrate a novel based off an iconic American movie?

Garbage adaptation

Just terrible. He tried to write a scene for scene adaptation but left out two of the interesting subplots from the movie (Charlie gaining faith and Amy looking just like Dandridge's old love). He added some sprinkles of homophobia ("hardcore lesbians" indeed), casual racism (only mentioned the race of the two black bouncers but never mentioned anyone else's race), and so much misogyny that was never evident in the movie. It feels like he wrote this book with his hand in his pants half the time. Just go watch the movie. Don't let this trash tarnish the beautiful nostalgia that is Fright Night.

Unnecessarily dark take with boring narration

I was very disappointed in this version of Fright Night. I read the other Fright Night book that is narrated by Chris Sarandon and written by original Fright Night Rider and director Tom Holland and it was phenomenal. Not only did it add fantastic background stories for each of the characters but hearing the original Jerry Dandridge was the icing on top. The narrator of this rendition was dreadfully monotonous and boring. Skip this and check out the other.
