Story
Callum had seen things all his life. There are monsters and beasts living among people, but he learned very early not to admit such things, not if he didn’t want people to think him crazy. It turns out that the supernatural is real, but at 30, Callum has no desire to be part of that secret. Not that he has a choice when it turns out he is a mage, albeit one that hasn’t cast any spells in all his life. There are requirements, duties, and education that the powers that be insist he be subject to. To hell with that.

They think I’m half angel and half human. They think I have no magic. They think that because I grew up in the human world, I’m clueless about what to expect at Seraphim Academy. They’re wrong. I’m not half human. I’m half demon. And this little succubus has come to play. My brother vanished from Seraphim Academy without a trace, and I’ll do whatever it takes to find him, including infiltrating the school myself. Even if it means going up against my brother’s best friends. They may be angel royalty, but if they think they can intimidate me into leaving, they’re wrong.

Book 3 is even better!
What made the experience of listening to Furious Flames the most enjoyable?
The narrator is excellent, and really adds to the feel of the story. I've listened to ALL of his narrations of Oxford's books, so far, and he is excellent!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Furious Flames?
In the epilogue, when Devon starts to question his parentage... OMG!
What does Todd Menesses bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His voice. He has one of those epic voice over voices that you just want to curl up and wrap around your soul.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I absolutely listened to this in one sitting! That's why I'm still up at 11 o'clock at night!
Any additional comments?
If you liked the first 2 books in this series, you are going to LOVE this book. So much drama, misdirection, and craziness!!!!

An wonderful book!
After stumbling, quite by accident, onto the works of Rain Oxford recently, I have been thoroughly impressed by everything I've read thus far. Furious Flames is another great book, in a series of great books, written by an amazing author. I'm looking forward to my next adventure into the imagination of Rain Oxford.

kinda loving this series. The narrator did a terrible job on the first two books but it is still an enjoyable listen I guess he listen to the criticism though because this book he did a much much much better job on narrating.

Love IT!!!
Rain Oxford never disappoints and Furious Flames is another great addition to this saga. As usual, Rain left us on a delicious cliffhanger, but that's what makes her books so awesome!!! She and Todd Menesses are truly a dynamic duo and I can't wait until the next installment! As I always share whenever I finish one of her books and decide to leave a review, they can get a little spooky. LOL But, it's nothing you can't handle if you're not faint of heart. Lol Pick this one up if you're looking for a great listen, especially as Halloween approaches!!!

Much better Todd
The first 2 had one problem. The narrator. He does great voices, but when he is doing the main characters thoughts he regularly goes WAY over board with the melodrama. Not this time though thank goodness! Someone finally must have said something because he only did that thing a couple of times. So much better. Good job.

I'm Hooked!
It took me awhile to read the third book of this series. Not because the series isn't good. It just seemed to get pushed aside for other books. But this book has hooked me on the series. It won't be pushed aside again. This book begins to give the reader some insight on the kreptic messages and vague comments by the elder wizards about what is really happening with the KEYS and the TOWER.
Devon begins to examine his feelings about his childhood vampire friend. I think the love connection is inevitable but glad the author is moving slowly. What I don't get is Devon's ex-wife. Regina stalks him even though Devon has a restraining order against her. How is that possible with a PI with ties to the police? I don't understand the authors reason for even bringing her up in this book. It's like they wrote this small section and forced it to fit with what was happening in the novel. I hope her story line is cut. It's useless.
My only issues with this novel is that it would get alittle confusing keeping up with the different wizard characters. I can't put it on one thing... the narrator tries to make the voices distinct but I thing it's more of the author flip flopping between story lines that makes it worse. But in all, the book is a great character development novel. You learn more about each person in the story, even the secondary characters. Sometimes I will complain that books like these are transitional... but this was done so well that being transitional is a plus. I'm hoping the next one is already available on audible.

Story telling Vs writing skill
I have to split this review in STORY TELLING and WRITING SKILL
For Story telling, this is another great book in the series. There are plot twists and turns that you almost see coming, but still surprises. Strange events in the past makes sense as you and the protagonist learns more about the supernatutal world.
Writing skill: The author doesn't make it easy for the audience to follow the story. He is not consistent in referring to his charterers. Example: Headmaster Logan Hunt are sometimes refered to as Logan, Hunt or Headmaster Hunt. With classmates, teachers, bad-guys and other minor charters, a sutten name drop without clear context makes me unsure of the narrative.
Speaking of context, this is the third book. I had to re-read the second book, to remind me of what the "amulet" was, who "Gail" was, what the issue with Darwin was and so on. There were absolutely no reintroduction or re-presentation, that could have helped me, if I don't read the books back-to-back. Other authors can spend a line reintroducing key elements, why cant Rain Oxford?
Now I am debating if I should buy and read the forth book Insidious Winds: Elemental, Book 4. There is still a lot of plot points to sort out, and it is a complexity is intriguing. If I don't do it now I'll most likely be just as lost as I was when I began this one, as there are no reintroduction. But on the other hand, I am a bit fed up with the protagonists "Intuition" that always makes him do the right thing.
