G is for "Get This One!"

G is for Groovy by Sean Black & Rebecca Cantrell, narrated by Madeline Mrozek is a fun and hilarious addition to the Malibu Mysteries series. From Sofia and Aiden to Fred and the wildly-horny bulldog, Book 7 is sure to keep you laughing (and guessing!) through to the end. In addition to the memorable characters, the storyline is action-packed and fast-moving, as are the rest in the series. I must say, though, that my favorite moments are the appearances the kids make in each book (Sofia's niece and nephew). They aren't always the best behaved, but for me they steal the show. Love them!

Madeline Mrozek's top-notch performace keeps me coming back. This woman is on 🔥fire!🔥 Her ability to perfectly match her tone and vocies to fit this quirky cast of characters is outstanding. She does a phenomenal job bringing the story and characters to life, so much that I feel like I'm watching a movie. In my mind, Mrozek "is" Sofia Delgado, so as long as she keeps narrating, I'll keep listening. This is exactly the type of performance audiobook listeners search to find. If she isn't already, Mrozek should be a mentor to aspiring narrators. Bravo!

G is for Groovy: Malibu Mysteries, Book 7 by Sean Black & Rebecca Cantrell, narrated by Madeline Mrozek deserves 5 out of 5 stars. The writing is engaging, and the narration is highly entertaining. I recommend this book (and series) to those who enjoy funny, action-packed mysteries, memorable characters, and hilarious situations. Although this is part of a series, it could still be read as a stand-alone. Either way, I'm confident it will get you laughing and coming back for more!

Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. Happy listening!

Laugh your sox off!

California, private-investigators, cults, situational-humor, verbal-humor

Valley Girl gets an unexpected education and former actress turned private investigator works undercover. And we get to laugh our sox off! Dippy soon-to-be-heiress gets conned by a cult of scammers just before the magic birthday but things turn ugly. And then there's the super horny bulldog who has snippy breed owners yelling for their lawyers. Good lessons hidden among the guffaws.
The best thing about audio is having Madeline Mrozek give the characters real voices and attitudes!

Van and Violet is for VIOLENT

I have read A-G loved them all. But the niece and nephew VAN and VIOLET are future serial killers. They have no idea of natural consequences or kindness. Being a teacher I am done with these kids. Ripping throats out by gorillas, talking about death, death, death and being mean has to stop or I will quit reading/listening. There is a difference between being fun with funny antics but these kids aren't it.

Highly entertaining!

Sofia Salgado is in charge, this time, of investigating a supposed cult that Tinsley, a rich young girl, got mixed up with: the Church of the Divine Goddess, a vegan and yoga society with a feminine twist. Tinsley’s father is worried because her eighteenth birthday is approaching, and she will inherit a fortune, making her an easy and appealing target for this Church.

I have to say that I enjoyed previous books in this series, but until now, this has been the best so for. It was entertaining, with hilarious moments, and a victim I cared about. I found it easier than other times to relate to Sofia and suffer for her during her undercover investigation. The plot was well built and the descriptions were accurate. I was not only highly entertained, but I was also invested in the story, and I was almost able to see the characters interacting and their surroundings. A light and easy listen for anyone into cozy mysteries.

Part of why this book worked so well was Madeline Mrozek’s narration. Her character interpretations were spot on, with the right amount of humor in her tone but also sounding casual when needed, like I would expect Sofia to sound in certain situations. She brought the characters to life and gave each a unique voice and style. The book was good, but Mrozek’s narration made it even better.

I have had my eye set on Rebecca Cantrell for a while now. She writes not only great cozy mysteries like this one but her mystery series are also very good. She is, definitely, an author I can recommend.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I love this series!

This series is so cute and entertaining!
I look forward to each new book and again I laughed and loved everything about it! The authors have captured the tongue in cheek satire and humor along with great character development.

I love listening and the reading performances of each character by Madeline Mrozak, as always, give the characters substance, individuality and believability!

The next in the series can’t come soon enough!

Sofia Meets Tinsley Undercover—Hilarious

This is a great series. Funny and yet the private investigators solve cases. Sofia is a child star turned P.I. She drives a red Tesla and lives in a blue trailer in Nirvana in Malibu. This book starts out with Harvey, a sex mad bull dog being chased down to prevent him ‘doing his thing’ with every female dog he finds. his owners flat out refuse to neuter him. Sofia is tasked with catching him. At the same time she is sent undercover to keep a dippy heiress from give it away her grandmother’s trust fund that she inherits when she turns 21. $50 Million is enough to set anyone a flutter but the cult is sucking her in and her parents hire Mahoney PI to stop it. The descriptions are hilarious, and even Aidan is aghast at the place. Madeline Mrozek is a great narrator. She has the Valley Girl sound perfectly executed. I love this series. Start with the 1st one and just enjoy your summer read.

Harvey is my Hero!

Don’t let the title fool you. California has a dark underside. Sophia Salgado is on the case. She is undercover investigating a unique religious cult that is praying on some of California’s elite youth. They are after something a lot less spiritual and a lot more sinister. Can Sophia and a bulldog named Harvey rescue the cults next target before she and her inheritance disappear? This Mystery will have you laughing one minute and say OMG! the next!

It just keeps getting better

As the alphabet progresses the stories get funnier and more twisted. I love listening to this series. It is well written with the perfect amount of snark and humor between characters. The narrator does amazing work bringing the characters to life and brings the attitudes forth to round out the story. I hope to see more of these stories in the future.
