Publisher's summary

Frayka’s back is against the wall.

After enduring grueling journeys and punishing challenges in the Far East, she is close to succeeding in her task of convincing the dragon gods of the Far East to make amends to the Northlander gods—but the final step now looks impossible.

If Frayka can’t complete that final step, then everything she has accomplished has been for nothing. If she fails, the cost will be her life and the lives of everyone she loves.

All the while, Frayka must make sense of who she has always been as a Northlander, and who she might have been as a Far Easterner. Although deeply rooted in her sense of herself as a Northlander, Frayka sees that there’s more to her than she ever could have imagined.

How will Frayka convince the Dragon Gods to atone?

Listening to the Gate of Water was a bittersweet experience, like reading of listening to any final book in a series. Saying goodbye to Frayka, Madam Po and the rest of the characters is a bit like bidding farewell to old friends. However, all of that aside, this fourth book in the Dragon Gods series is without a doubt the best of the series. The action and intrigue all reach a crescendo in an unusual place. Other than that tidbit I will not say any more about the story to not provide any spoilers. I will say I wasn’t expecting the ending of this story, in fact how it ended wasn’t even on my radar so to say I was surprised would be an understatement. Listening to this series expertly narrated by Resa Nelson and especially this installment in the series was well worth the time invested as the entertainment was highly enjoyable.

Book 4 of the cycle. . .wrapping it up for Frayka

Book 4 wraps everything up for Frayka. The journey is complete. Still hope for more animation and fluidity for the narrator.

Conclusion of the Dragon Gods series

This is the fourth and final book of the Dragon Gods series. While Frayka's adventures were interesting, it was very difficult to complete this book. As with the previous 3 books, the author repeats things over and over. In addition, the author's narration continues to lack animation and difference of expression from character to character.
