About this listen

Brace yourself for Gemina — the highly anticipated sequel to the book critics called “out-of-this-world awesome,” — featuring journal illustrations by best-selling author Marie Lu!

Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna's social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.

The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout best seller Illuminae continues onboard the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.

Hanna is the station captain's pampered daughter, Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy's most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.

When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station's wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren't just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia - and possibly the known universe - is in their hands.

But relax. They've totally got this. They hope.

Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling listeners into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.

Narrated by Carla Corvo, MacLeod Andrews, Steve West, Erik Davies, Lisa Cordileone, and a full cast.

Praise for Illuminae

Editorial reviews

Editors Select, October 2016 - While I'm not usually a fan of audio accessorizing (background noises, artful static, music, etc.), the physical versions of Kristoff and Kaufman's two ambitious novels (of which Gemina is the second) feel more like graphic novels than standard books, even though they don't have pictures. The text is arranged artfully and almost becomes the pictures. With such visual intricacy, clearly these books demand extra audio care. And in both works the audio producers have done a remarkable job of responding to the physical nature of the books, creating a fully immersive "found object" experience. As with Illuminae, the complex story took me about 30 minutes of serious concentration to slide into, but then BAM, I was hooked. Emily, Audible Editor

One of the best

This was so riveting I found myself walking around my house with headphones in ignoring my family and adding a couple of miles to my run just so I could hear more. The whole premise of logs and different voices was pitch perfect. I want more!

CAN'T. STOP. WON'T. STOP.

Would you consider the audio edition of Gemina to be better than the print version?

I think that they're totally different experiences. If you want a slower read, to read every detail on the page, then definitely pick up that print version. If you have the time, you do you, boo. But I'm impatient af, and I wanted to know NOW, so audible it was for me! And let me tell you, you. wont. regret. it.

What did you like best about this story?

I mean, without spoilers? I'll just say the characters. I loved the different castings too, because it really brought the characters to life that a lot of audible books aren't able to do!

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't actually! But I'm currently listening to Obsidio, so I'm loving their performances in that one just as much as this one!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Get ready to fall in love and then watch them die. Literally every Kristoff and Kaufman book ever I'm learning.

Incredible full cast production

This might be the best audiobook I have ever listened to. I listened to the audiobook which following along in the physical book which I highly recommend you try. The physical book is incredible as it’s almost a graphic novel with how cool each page is laid out. And the audiobook brings an additional layer with the full cast. Solid 5 out of 5 star read AND listen!!

These books always take a little bit of time to gain traction but each one is been fantastic. The story keeps you guessing and it’s just an overall fun read. Now if I could just get that damn lollipop song out of my head

A Story Like No Other

Loved this book as much as the first. Kept me on the edge of my seat right to the end. Loved that it was voiced by a cast and not just one person, it definitely makes the impact of it so much better.
