About this listen

Brace yourself for Gemina — the highly anticipated sequel to the book critics called “out-of-this-world awesome,” — featuring journal illustrations by best-selling author Marie Lu!

Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna's social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.

The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout best seller Illuminae continues onboard the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.

Hanna is the station captain's pampered daughter, Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy's most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.

When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station's wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren't just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia - and possibly the known universe - is in their hands.

But relax. They've totally got this. They hope.

Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling listeners into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.

Narrated by Carla Corvo, MacLeod Andrews, Steve West, Erik Davies, Lisa Cordileone, and a full cast.

Praise for Illuminae

Editorial reviews

Editors Select, October 2016 - While I'm not usually a fan of audio accessorizing (background noises, artful static, music, etc.), the physical versions of Kristoff and Kaufman's two ambitious novels (of which Gemina is the second) feel more like graphic novels than standard books, even though they don't have pictures. The text is arranged artfully and almost becomes the pictures. With such visual intricacy, clearly these books demand extra audio care. And in both works the audio producers have done a remarkable job of responding to the physical nature of the books, creating a fully immersive "found object" experience. As with Illuminae, the complex story took me about 30 minutes of serious concentration to slide into, but then BAM, I was hooked. Emily, Audible Editor

Nonstop roller coaster ride

If you could sum up Gemina in three words, what would they be?

Epic Space Opera.

What did you like best about this story?

The different points of view.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Lots of weight and immediacy.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Don't Blink.

Any additional comments?

Nice mix of young adult romance with epic space battles done in a documentary style with a touch of Game of Thrones.

STILL SO GOOD

I loved this book however I couldn't give it 5 stars like I did Illuminae. My problem is that though some of the book was different however I did see some parallels in both books. I still really enjoyed it and addicted to what was happening. Not going to say what they were because spoils are not needed.
Hanna isn't want I expected at first because she was a spoiled rich girl. However Hana does have some fight in her. Thanks to her father who is a military man and is captain of the Heimdall Jump Station. Which comes in handy with her ship gets invaded by paid assassins. And boy does she kick butts. Then there's Nik who is comes from a drug family who technical isn't on the ship. I just loved him and he reminds me of Ezra who hides being scared behind humor. Now these two have to work together. Then we have our tech girl on the Himdall Ella who is also Nik's cousin and simply love her.
Also on top of the assassins we of course have a another problem on the ship. That being not zombies but parasite worms. Which didn't have as big of part in these book. It was more of outsmarting the killers which was fun and loved when they up them.
This book has a couple twist that did take me by surprise. The end makes me really excited to know how the third book is going to be set up. Because we have Hanna and Nik please the characters from the first book. Banning together for a common goal. So yeah am excited.

Uncensored Version please

Great except for all the muting of swear words. I'm an adult I can take a bit of swearing. Great story, great voice acting.

Bliss...

When Gemina started I thought we were gonna continue immediately where we left off in Illuminae and I was correct to an extent but without Kady, Ezra and AIDAN for the first 400+ pages of the book. What was in those 400+ pages you ask well a introduction to new characters that honestly you will fall in love with Hanna, Nik, and Ella are all so well written and so interesting to learn about their stories.

the performances on the audio book are all grade A with a full cast. You should also own the physical/ebook as well there is so much thought put into all the reports/art

You will find that this book is well....

Bliss.....

Excellent follow up to a great sequel

I thought the stylized version of how Gemina was done based off the first book was going to wear itself thin. I’m happy to say that not only was it done brilliantly and just as fun to go thru but the story was compelling enough to make you want to know what happens next.

Great performances, one of the better modern sci-fi tales I’ve had the pleasure to read in a while.

Amazing! I can’t believe this series has turned out to be so amazing. It truly just gets better. I haven’t found a riveting book in a while. I’m so happy to have found such a riveting series.
