Publisher's summary

If you think that most of the world consists of unicorns and rainbows, think again. Perhaps you think that living in the West is particularly harsh and that the problems we face in the United States or Europe are more brutal than in other parts of the world. Again, think again.

Welcome to an audiobook about the ongoing genocide in Darfur, something not often discussed in the news but shocking enough to make you envision what hell on earth looks like. Chances are some of these rapes and murders are happening right now as you’re reading this. The conflict there isn’t over. Tragically, not enough is being done about it, and one might wonder if this is because of a lack of interest or the complications of the situation and therefore, incompetence.

The Darfur genocide describes the methodical killing of ethnic Darfuri people in Western Sudan throughout the existing dispute. It's considered the first genocide of the 21st century. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has prosecuted many individuals for criminal offenses against mankind, rape, mass relocations and deportations, and abuse because of the genocide being committed against the Fur, Masalit, and Zaghawa tribe. More than one million children there have been "killed, raped, hurt, displaced, shocked, or endured the loss of parents or caregivers and loved ones”.

The Darfur War, also called the "Land Cruiser War", is a major armed dispute in Sudan's Darfur area that started in the month of February 2003 when the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) rebel groups launched a project against Sudan's federal government, implicating it of oppressing Darfur's non-Arab population.

This audiobook will continue to shed light on this dark place on earth.
