It opened up areas not thought of

Some of the simplest things that men take for granted have deeper meaning for the women. Finding out what makes or interests her tick is good stuff. The helm does not need brute strength but it takes brains and a softer touch. Perfect

I felt like I took a gamble when I bought the book, but was rewarded with a well researched, written/narrated by the author. I appreciated the clever and subtle humour.

Fantastic book on sailing AND relationships

This book is a must read if you are thinking taking up sailing with your significant other. It's almost a relationship and psychology manual! Nick is insightful, compassionate, and authentic.

Loved it!

Hi Nick, I count myself as fortunate because my wife and I started taking sailing lessons and chartering cats together a few years ago so i don't really have any problems "getting her on board". But I figured it would be good idea to learn from a more seasoned sailor on the topic. The audio version of this book is fantastic and your narration voice is great with a very optimistic and calming affect. Overall I can't say enough good things about the book.

I can say that I did make a bit of mistake though because I let my wife start listening half way through the book. And, when some of the words are taken out of context she did feel a little, uhh, "uncomfortable". No worries though as she is pretty open and by the time we made it to your advice in that last chapter all was good!

I am also reading your "living on the margin" book, hoping to find some more good tips on how I might be able to actually let go of my financial worries, that 9-5 security net and actually go for some extended cruising.

Thanks Again!

joe

Totally a guy book. Do not let your wife near it!

Full of sound and well reasoned advice to help guys who want to get their wives onboard with the idea of going cruising. Feminists will hate it, so if you're one save yourself some rage and stay away. Women with a sense of humour will probably love it. Guys who are looking for some practical advice on how to influence their spouse in a painless way will totally enjoy this book. Presented in a light- hearted way and excellently narrated, the book is more than a sailing book. It's closer to being a study in applied psychology which uses the narrative of cruising as a base from which to deliver a lot of good advice. I loved it.

not as sexist as some would have you believe.

herein lies quite a bit of seemingly good advice not just 4 wanting to go sailing. There is quite a bit of advice here that will do you well in your everyday relationship, even on land.

More Than The Title

I have to say this book was a great teacher for planning for and into the sailing / cruiser life - part time or full time. From planning before, to life on the water with your partner and possible issues that can arise in that relationship. Nick did his homework plus used his life experiences to compile a guide that we can all learn from.

not worth the time

What disappointed you about Get Her on Board?

Shallow and very condescending to "wives".Not just disappointing but unbearable. I returned it after the first few chapters.
