About this listen

Contemporary culture trivializes the "seven deadly sins," or vices, as if they have no serious moral or spiritual implications. Glittering Vices clears this misconception by exploring the traditional meanings of gluttony, sloth, lust, and others. It offers a brief history of how the vices were compiled and an eye-opening explication of how each sin manifests itself in various destructive behaviors. Listeners gain practical understanding of how the vices shape our culture today and how to correctly identify and eliminate the deeply rooted patterns of sin that are work in their own lives. This accessible book is essential for any listener interested in spiritual disciplines and character formation.

good resource

this is a good understanding of the seven deadly sins, with helpful ways to counter them. it is both a good intellectual resource and spiritual for recognizing how one may be Truly struggling and how to over come it. It is also narrated well and did not put me to sleep.

The chapter on anger opened my eyes & answered a prayer. But all were great if you let them speak to you.

The introduction was hard to absorb not being Catholic raised. I had no idea who the people were she spoke of.

Practical application of moral truth and vice

Nice to hear a modern examination that mostly holds true to the original unchanging meanings for these things. No need to discuss pagan gods Eros, etc. though. And for all the few truth seekers, the Vatican 2 sect is not Catholic. “Come out of her, my people.” Revelation 18:4 vaticancatholic.com

Highly Recommend

Glittering Vices is an engaging, accessible and easily relatable look at vice through an historic and contemporary lens. Very helpful as a reflection on one’s own life as well as an apologetic for the Catholic (or early Christian) moral tradition.
