About this listen

"In this house we believe that: Black Lives Matter, Love Is Love, Gay Rights Are Civil Rights, Women’s Rights Are Human Rights, Transgender Women Are Women".

You may have seen signs with some of these messages in your neighborhood. They offer us an all-or-nothing package deal - in short, a secular creed. In this provocative audiobook, Rebecca McLaughlin helps us disentangle the beliefs Christians gladly affirm from those they cannot embrace, and invites us to talk with our neighbors about the things that matter most. Far from opposing love across difference, McLaughlin argues, Christianity is the original source and firmest foundation for true diversity, equality, and life-transforming love.

Struggling to understand how to stand in this moment in history and the cultural divide as a loving, truth telling and truth listening Christian. Rebecca thoughtfully, patiently and lovingly sheds light on the scriptures that show us love and tell us truth. An excellent read. Thought provoking. Still chewing on it.

The compassionate tone with which the author addresses the issues without compromising logic or truth give the reader bold and kind ways to approach these social topics with Christian nuance in and out of the church.

I loved this short little book! Rebecca takes all the populat secular claims and demonstrates that the underlying assumption behind each of them is rooted in a Christian worldview. She also points out sin and hypocrisy within the Christian church and shows how that is part of what led to these secular ideas becoming so popular and portraying Christianity so badly to modern secularists. This book was challenging, informative, and encouraging at the same time. I hope this book helps us each to see how the secular creed falls short of the glory of the gospel!
