Publisher's summary

Ever since she was a child, Kris Jaeckle has been into adventure—starting with being born on the way to her father’s next duty station! Growing up a military brat kept her on the move…and she has always wanted to inspire people and make a difference in their lives. The influence of her mother’s desire to help others and her father’s servant heart and strong leadership tendencies made her a natural fit in the executive education arena. Her teaching skills have blossomed her in the pilates and yoga world, and when not exercising or drinking her Starbucks, she is usually cooking, reading, connecting with her friends, and traveling.

An Unusual Story

There are so many aspects to the book I find it a little hard to review so I’ll stick to one aspect. The Author talks about her relationship with God and her heartbreaking breakup with her fiancé. she skillfully describes her journey of healing through Gods leading. Most never talk about this and perhaps believe the story is purely one persons delusion. I am familiar with what the Author is telling you as I have seen pictures, met some of the people and know the Authors heart. sine the Narrator is also the author you get the fullness of the emotions as she re-experiences her journey.

A Life Influenced by Life Experiences

Eight and a half hours flies by pretty fast.

I ordered Kris's "Global Adventures" soft cover soon after I found it was published about a year ago. However, while I skimmed some early chapters, I'm a lazy reader and waited for the Audible version to come out before reading (or listening) to the whole book.

Kris has a voice that seems so full of energy, optimism, and enthusiasm, and is yet relaxing. Her tone, pitch, and cadence are calming. I may have had a bad day at work and my mind be full of junk and tension from the day. But when listening to Kris tell her story on the way home, all that junk seems to move to the background.

Kris's book is excellent. I'm not a worldly traveler, so listening to her experiences gives me a sense of the many cultures she encountered. From different areas of Europe, to Calcutta India, Africa, New Zealand, and others, to state-side Dallas, New York, and others. It is refreshing to hear of those places through the eyes of personal experience from someone whose life and faith was unmistakably changed by those experiences and people encountered. One experience that stands to me out is her time volunteering for Mother Theresa in India and the interesting juxtaposition between Hinduism and Christianity.

A common thread through the book is Kris's personal and professional growth during her time working for an outfit called YPO (Young Presidents Organization). Personal because she had a beak-up from man whom she had a lot of trouble letting go. Professional because of her exposure to elite, perhaps, business leaders from around the world. Her work, travel, and experiences during this time of her life probably influenced her personal life, work life, faith, and ethics years down the road.

I could a make long shot guess that mayyyyyybe someone could say "oh, she's just a privileged and probably beautiful sorority girl that got to jet-set around with big shots and do a bunch of cool sight-seeing in the process." But as you'll see (or hear), listening to Kris's story, it wasn't all fun and games. She had some difficult experiences and responsibilities the average and not-so-average Joe don't have to deal with.

I recommend this book, particularly the audio version. It's refreshing that an author takes time to narrate her own book. And it's a refreshing story of growing in faith and in person.
