But what if your values are a cleaner and greener earth? Most people think that "going green" is an expensive choice they can't afford. Go Green, Live Rich outlines 50 ways to make your life, your home, your shopping, and your finances greener - and get rich trying. From driving the right car to making your home energy smart, Bach offers ways to improve the environment while you spend less, save more, earn more, and pay fewer taxes. Most of us grew up with the idea that there is good debt and there is bad debt. Good debts are generally considered to be debts you incur to buy things that can go up in value—like a home or college education. Bad debts are things like credit card balances, where you borrowed money to buy things that depreciate or go down in value, like most consumer goods.

The water coming out of your tap is four billion years old and might have been slurped by a Tyrannosaurus Rex. We will always have exactly as much water on Earth as we have ever had. Water cannot be destroyed, and it can always be made clean enough for drinking again. In fact, water can be made so clean that it actually becomes toxic. As Charles Fishman brings vibrantly to life in this delightful narrative excursion, water runs our world in a host of awe-inspiring ways, which is both the promise and the peril of our unexplored connections to it.

Critic reviews
“Great news: there is no green premium! By demonstrating how going green can fit any budget, David Bach shows that good environmental and financial decisions go hand-in-hand. Bach's Go Green, Live Rich gives great tips, useful to everyone, about how to save money and the planet at once." (Robert F. Kennedy Jr.)
“Go Green, Live Rich is the ultimate toolkit for greening the planet and our wallets at the same time. No one does a better job than David Bach in showing us the practical strategies for how to enjoy living sustainably.” (Terry Tamminen, Cullman Senior Fellow, New America Foundation, and author, Lives Per Gallon: The True Cost of Our Oil Addiction)
“Yet another powerful reason to go green! Thankfully for our species, going green can also mean saving some green. Go Green, Live Rich shows you exactly how a lot of small steps added together can change your life in more ways than one." (Graham Hill, TreeHugger.com and PlanetGreen.com)

The average American produces 102 tons of garbage across a lifetime, and $50 billion in squandered riches are rolled to the curb each year. But our bins are just the starting point for a strange, impressive, mysterious, and costly journey that may also represent the greatest untapped opportunity of the century. In Garbology, Edward Humes investigates trash - what's in it; how much we pay for it; how we manage to create so much of it; and how some families, communities, and even nations are finding a way back from waste to discover a new kind of prosperity.

How do you define the good life? For many, success is measured not by health and happiness but by financial wealth. But such a worldview overlooks the important things in life: personal contentment, family time, spirituality, and the health of the planet and those living on it. A preoccupation with money and possessions is not only unhealthy, it can also drain the true joy from life. In recent years, millions have watched their American Dreams go up in smoke.

Story
When you turn on the tap or twist the cap, you might not give a second thought to where your drinking water comes from. But how it gets from the ground to your glass is far more complex than you might think. Is it safe to drink tap water? Should you feel guilty buying bottled water? Is your water vulnerable to terrorist attacks? With springs running dry and reservoirs emptying, where is your water going to come from in the future? In Drinking Water, Duke professor James Salzman shows how drinking water highlights the most pressing issues of our time.

Worst book ever!
The author has many great books but this isn't one of them. I doubt that many of the ideas or tips if you will can save much money, and little to no positive effect on the environment. Case in point, in the book (in my words here) you can save "X" amount of carbon emissions if you get rid of your gas guzzling SUV and get a hybrid. My problem with is simply when you trade that vehicle in or sell it, it doesn't go to the crusher. It still remains in service somewhere, at least in most cases and getting rid of paid off SUV to spend 15,000-20,000 on a 2 or 3 year old hybrid isn't saving any money.
There is little to no real investment advice on the matter of investing in Green Companies. Buy Green mutual funds. I didn't need too buy this book to tell me that.
I can't recommend this book, I don't think much research could have been done before this was put together in my opinion.
If you want green info on saving money and the environment I would look elsewhere.
