About this listen

It is woven into the fabric of modern evangelicalism. The subject of numerous books, conferences, and sermons every year, it’s promoted as essential for a vibrant relationship with Christ, and a measure of the maturity of your faith. What is it? Hearing God speak personally, outside of Scripture.

But is God trying to speak to you through signs, impressions, and subtle promptings? Is he whispering to you in a still, small voice, hoping to grab your attention? Does Scripture promise that every Christian will receive personal, private revelations from the Lord?

In God Doesn’t Whisper, Pastor Jim Osman examines the assumptions, practices, and proof texts of those who promote a theology of hearing the voice of God. Dig into the texts often cited in defense of trying to hear God speak outside of His written Word. Scripture is clear: God doesn’t whisper.

The book is very thorough, that could count to some as slow in some topics, but that length is necessary for the whole argument.

For everyone longing to hear from God with all their hearts, listen to this book. You will be surprised on how it is really done, and challenged by some notions and preconceptions that you may have.

A book to listen once, and come back many times!!!

Biblically faithful- highly recommended

God Doesn’t Whisper is a must-read for every believer. Jim Osman presents a thorough, biblical case against the modern idea that God speaks through subjective impressions, dreams, and whispers, calling Christians back to the sufficiency of Scripture. His careful exegesis, logical reasoning, and pastoral concern make this book both insightful and necessary in a time when so many are seeking extra-biblical revelation. I wholeheartedly agree with his conclusions and highly recommend this book to anyone serious about hearing from God—through His Word.

Wonderful book on how God communicates with us—through his Word. This (God Doesn’t Whisper) is one of the most important books for our time, when so many —even leaders—are saying God gave them a new revelation. God gave us a BOOK for a reason, and no small part of that reason is so that we can avoid all the false prophecies of our day, because we know what God TRULY said—He had it written down for us! There is nothing missing from His word— everything we need to know is there. This is a great book and the author backs up everything he says with scripture, which is God’s (only) revealed word to us.

BIBLICAL.

Osman’s disassembly of HVG theology is thoughtful and pointed, clear and clever. Highly recommend this book!

Delightfully tongue-in-cheek and Biblically faithful

Excellent book, using scripture to prove that we don’t need to hear a voice from God for guidance. The Bible is a sufficient guide for us!

Very well delivered and listenable. Would recommend highly the presenter and author covering the subject.

Excellent

He spent more time telling how, he thought, others taught to hear/interpret the Word of God than he did explaining how he would teach to hear/interpret the Word of God. I found it very distasteful and poor in character, with little respect for how others teach, hear and interpret the Word.

Disappointed

man tells lies about God and doesn't know what he's talking about. don't read it.
