What would God say about those who blatantly misrepresent His Holy Spirit; who exchange true worship for chaotic fits of mindless ecstasy; who replace the biblical gospel with vain illusions of health and wealth; who claim to prophesy in His name yet speak errors; and who sell false hope to desperate people for millions of dollars? The Charismatic movement has always been a breeding-ground for scandal, greed, bad doctrine, and all kinds of spiritual chicanery. Best-selling author and pastor John MacArthur chronicles the unsavory history behind the modern Charismatic movement.

Story
Throughout the Bible, followers of Jesus are commanded to submit to Him as their King. They are told to obey and follow, faithfully and without hesitation. Every time Christians utter the word Lord, they make a subtle yet profound declaration - that God is their Master and that they belong to Him. In fact, the Bible describes believers as His slaves. They have been bought with a price and now live for Christ as a people for His own possession. But go into most churches today, even flip through most Bible translations, and you won’t see or hear the word slave anywhere.

Story
In The Book on Leadership, best-selling author, pastor, and teacher John MacArthur sets the record straight: Leadership does not come from a job title. It isn't a matter of personality or charisma. And it isn't the same thing as iron-fisted authority. True leadership—the kind that refuses to bend to a shifting, fickle world—comes from a much deeper source.

Story
Because God has made himself known in his word, a commitment to a high view of scripture is of paramount importance. Sadly, more and more people - not only from outside the church, but also from within - are denying the complete truthfulness of God's word. Edited by pastor John MacArthur, this compilation of essays by a host of evangelical pastors, theologians, historians, and biblical scholars contends that the Bible is completely true and without error - a foundational belief for those who claim to honor God and his word.

Story
Pastor John MacArthur leads you through Scripture texts about true worship. You will learn that worship is any essential expression of service rendered unto God by a soul that loves and extols Him for who He is. Worship is the nonstop role of believers, not merely part of a church service. So get ready to alter your priorities, aiming higher than entertaining worshipers on Sunday mornings. Worship shows that your ultimate priority must always be to worship the true and living God, with a radically different type of living.

Jesus Christ did not die on the cross so you and I could have a nice day. Ministers and teachers who water down the Gospel of Christ in order to make it more popular and appealing may be leading their fun-loving audiences down the road to eternal punishment. This book is John MacArthur's unflinching, unapologetic treatise on the modern tendency to alter the true message of Christianity in order to meet the whims and desires of a culture hoping for nonconfrontational messages, easy answers, and superficial commitments.

Story
C.H. Spurgeon, in 1800s England, said "Everywhere there is apathy. Nobody cares whether that which is preached is true or false. A sermon is a sermon whatever the subject; only, the shorter it is the better." Until all that changes, until we return to our calling to go into all the world and preach the Gospel without shame, the Church is in danger of losing its impact on society. And that would be our generation's greatest loss.

We are in the midst of a paradigm shift in the church. Not since the Reformation five centuries ago have so many Christians come together to ask whether the church is in sync with their deepest beliefs and commitments. These believers range from evangelicals to mainline Protestants to Catholics, and the person who best represents them is author and pastor Brian McLaren. In this much anticipated book, McLaren examines ten questions facing today's church - questions about how to articulate the faith itself, the nature of its authority, who God is....

In Reasons to Believe, Scott Hahn, a convert to Catholicism, explains the "how and why" of the Catholic faith - drawing from Scripture, his own struggles, and those of other converts, as well as from everyday life and even natural science. Hahn shows that reason and revelation, as well as nature and the supernatural, are not opposed to one another; rather, they offer complementary evidence that God exists. He is someone, and He has a personality, a personal style, that is discernable and knowable.

Story
In The Day the Revolution Began, N. T. Wright once again challenges commonly held Christian beliefs, as he did in Surprised by Hope. Demonstrating the rigorous intellect and breathtaking knowledge that have long defined his work, Wright argues that Jesus' death on the cross was not only to absolve us of our sins, it was actually the beginning of a revolution commissioning the Christian faithful to a new vocation - a royal priesthood responsible for restoring and reconciling all of God's creation.

Story
If God is sovereign, how can I be free to choose? But if God is not sovereign, how can he be God? Is it possible to reconcile God's sovereignty with human choice? This is one of the most perplexing theological questions. It's also one of the most personal. In Hand in Hand, Randy Alcorn says that the traditional approach to this debate has often diminished our trust in God and his purposes. Instead of making a one-sided argument from select verses, Alcorn examines the question in light of all Scripture.

The Council of Nicea was not clerics in a dark and ornate hall. It was brawls in churchyards; it was emperors and governors fighting to save the empire; it was political intrigue as the governments of church and state blended into a volatile stew. It was the way a fringe group of peace-loving communal worshipers of a crucified Palestinian prophet conquered the Roman Empire.

The early Christian Church was a chaos of contending beliefs. Some groups of Christians claimed that there was not one God but two or twelve or thirty. Some believed that the world had not been created by God but by a lesser, ignorant deity. Certain sects maintained that Jesus was human but not divine, while others said he was divine but not human.

The Problem of God is written by a skeptic who became a Christian and then a pastor, all while exploring answers to the most difficult questions raised against Christianity. Mark grew up in an atheistic home, and after his father's death, began a skeptical search for truth through exploring science, philosophy, and history, asking the big questions of life, and eventually finding answers in Christianity. In a disarming, winsome, and persuasive way, The Problem of God responds to the top 10 questions people raise against God, and Christianity.

Because God has made himself known in his word, a commitment to a high view of scripture is of paramount importance. Sadly, more and more people - not only from outside the church, but also from within - are denying the complete truthfulness of God's word. Many Christians believe we ought to ignore Satan and his army of demons. Others say we should be learning how to fight them and seek to engage them in battle. But what does the bible say? John MacArthur explores the origin of spiritual warfare, its present reality, and what a Christian's response should be. He also takes a detailed look at each piece of spiritual armor—which he points out is primarily defensive, not offensive, in nature. This book sounds the battle alarm without being alarmist and takes a balanced approach to spiritual warfare.

Written to help listeners better understand Jesus's life, death, and ultimate mission, this new book by well-known preacher John MacArthur looks at an important - yet often misunderstood - section of the Bible: Isaiah 53. This world has declared war on our children. Every day, on a multitude of battlefronts, Satan is deploying weapons of mass corruption against our children. Modern culture has been systematically designed with an agenda that is anti-God, anti-Christ, and anti-Scripture, intended to corrupt young and impressionable hearts and minds. Christian parents cannot simply float passively along with the drift of our culture. As God’s people, we need to teach our children God’s Word; give them wise and biblical guidance; and above all, show them our extravagant love.

Worship shows that your ultimate priority must always be to worship the true and living God, with a radically different type of living.

Critical for Today!
A must read for anyone who’s serious about standing for Gods truth in today’s upside down world. As usual, MacArthur, in his own voice, provides clear, biblically based support for his position on absolute truth and our fight against apostasy in today’s church. I enjoyed this short read, and decided to buy the actual book for future reference.

Fantastic Book- and Greatly Needed
It seems very clear to me that our entire society is steeped in this terrible pattern of thinking. Namely that no truth exists and nobody has a right to speak authority on anything. John MacArthur slays this sacred cow finally and thoroughly. Fair and balanced and not in a nasty way but rather firm and direct in presentation.

Love John MacArthur!!!!
John MacArthur has such a way of breaking down God’s word in dealing with certain things that the Church is going through. He brings every word of God to life letting you know what the Holy Spirit was telling the writers as they pen the holy Scriptures. Thank you John MacArthur!!!! This book will help you understand what kind of church you need to be in.
