About this listen

It certainly is a grandiose claim to have banished God. With such a lot at stake, we surely need to ask Hawking to produce evidence to establish his claim. Do his arguments really stand up to close scrutiny? I think we have a right to know.

The Grand Design, by eminent scientist Stephen Hawking, is the latest blockbusting contribution to the "New Atheist" debate and claims that the laws of physics themselves brought the universe into being rather than God.

In this swift and forthright reply, John Lennox, Oxford mathematician and author of God's Undertaker, takes a closer look at Hawking's logic. In lively, layman's terms, Lennox guides us through the key points in Hawking's arguments - with clear explanations of the latest scientific and philosophical methods and theories - and demonstrates that far from disproving a creator God, they make his existence seem all the more probable.

Simplicity

Simple to understand. Short and to the point. Convincing arguments for the existence of a creator. It shows the inconsistency of Hawking

Great book! Sub-par performance

I found the content of this book to be clear, well-written, and engaging. This book is a response to the late Hawking’s recent book arguing against a designer of the universe. To my mind, Lennox draws out the unstated philosophical assumptions of Hawking’s position and shows why they are untenable.

The reader/performer was average for the most part. He mispronounced some words, like “subsequently” and “automata,” and he annoyingly pronounces “something” as “somethin’.” These can be overlooked and don’t detract from the book. However, his reading was rather monotone and lacked emphasis. I really wish Lennox himself, with his Winnie-the-Pooh voice and Irish accent, would have read it.

All in all, good book by an intelligent man, but the performance wasn’t adequate to the energy of the author.

Loved the book. thank you John C. Lennox

Some people think that religion lost a battle to science. This is not true. In this book prof.John Lennox helps to see the philosofical background and logical mistakes of so called scientific knowledge of Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest minds of our time.
I highly recommend this book to those who think that physics can explain and/or proove everything

Excellent arguments. Concise logic.

unlike so many of these types of arguments, the author is concise and logical in every argument without being ridiculously verbose like so many are.

great read

John Lennox does a great job dispelling the idea that there is a conflict betweem a belief in God and modern science.

Amazing

This book absolutely crushes atheism. Stephen Hawking is smart but he knows nothing about God.

A great work by one of the greatest apologists.

Irrefutable truth. Lennox exposes the fallacies of a Godless view of science and the universe.
