About this listen

Daniel's story is one of extraordinary faith in God lived out at the pinnacle of executive power. It tells of four teenage friends, born in the tiny state of Judah about 26 centuries ago, but captured by Nebuchadnezzar, emperor of Babylon. Daniel describes how they eventually rose to the top echelons of administration. Daniel and his friends did not simply maintain their private devotion to God; they maintained a high-profile witness in a pluralistic society antagonistic to their faith. That is why their story has such a powerful message for us. Society tolerates the practice of Christianity in private and in church services, but it increasingly deprecates public witness. If Daniel and his compatriots were with us today they would be in the vanguard of the public debate. What was it that gave that ancient foursome, Daniel and his three friends, the strength and conviction to be prepared, often at great risk, to swim against the flow?

Good content, difficult narration

Great content, but I found the reader almost impossible to listen to. Sounded like he was trying to emote to the extreme the entire time. Had to quit listening after the first half hour or so……

Great content, but...

I love Lennox and looked forward to this book but the reader makes it impossible to listen to. I will have to get a paper copy. This reader makes this audible book miserable.

The content is interesting,

As much as I’m interested in what the author has to say, I cannot get past the readers performance. I have no doubt he is well suited for other types of books, just not this one.

Confirming that God knows the future

The first 5 chapters show that God is greater than any human power by protecting Daniel’s 3 friends through the fire and then protecting Daniel from the mouths of hungry lions.
The last part shows God knows the future by describing —in great detail — what would happen long after Daniel was dead.

New insights into historicity of Daniel

Provides new insights into the historicity of Daniel. Narrator is at first off-putting due to his ungrammatical pronunciations of gerunds and his mispronunciations of “subsequently” and other words, but his tone grew on me through the book and I enjoyed his voice.

Clear-cut advice and profound analysis

Although I was familiar with much of the backstory to the book of Daniel, reading Lennox’ book brought new and old insights into a clear focus. Lennox is brilliant in distilling lessons from ancient wisdom for contemporary believers. Not overly scholarly in his style of writing, Lennox aspires to, and succeeds convincingly, to communicate weighty insights to inquiring minds of today.

Best Book

Great book, and great narration.

This is the best work on the book of Daniel I have ever listened to. I intend to purchase the hardcover and read myself.

Wonderful book! Narration needs work.

I loved the book! Dr. Lennox is brilliant. However, the narrator seriously needs to review pronunciation on many of these words. The last book I heard read by him was a little concerning. This time it was downright frustrating.
