About this listen

An audiobook set in the award-winning Tales of Goldstone Wood series.

The vengeful goddess demands her tithe.

When a stowaway is discovered aboard the merchant ship Kulap Kanya, Munny, a cabin boy on his first voyage, knows what must be done. All stowaways are sacrificed to Risafeth, the evil goddess of the sea. Such is her right, and the Kulap Kanya's only hope to return safely home.

Yet, to the horror of his crew, Captain Sunan vows to protect the stowaway, a foreigner in clown's garb. A curse falls upon the ship and all who sail with her, for Risafeth will stop at nothing to claim her tithe.

Will Munny find the courage to trust his captain and to protect the strange clown who has become his friend?

Great Story, Well Paced

I loved it and listened three times. Mooney is a great character I really cared about. I have read much of the Goldstone Wood series and we all wish Anne Elisabeth Stengl would make more of this amazing farie world into audio!

The cover picture does not convey how rugged Mooney is as a boy working ropes iin a storm, etc. Rees was a very fine reader!

Well done, interesting novella.

Worth the listen. Short and thoughtful. Stingless did a beautiful job weaving together this sailors' world of superstition, open seas ans fearfulness.

A thrilling adventure

Munny the ship's boy wonders why his captain chooses to protect a foreign stowaway despite the wrath of a terrifying monster/goddess that claims stowaways as her tithe. Wonderful fantasy adventures, epic heroes, and poignant love fill this beautiful novella.
