David L. Cook
About this listen
Join David Cook—world-renowned sports and performance psychologist, speaker, and bestselling author—as he teaches you that in golf and in life, it's time to get out of your own way and let your true self shine.
Based on thousands of athletes Cook has counseled and great mentors and teachers from whom he has learned, Golf's Sacred Journey is told through the lives of two characters—a rancher with a passion for teaching truth and a young golf professional at the end of his rope.
In Golf's Sacred Journey, Cook has compressed his decades of peak performance coaching into a story that will give you the tools you need to:
- Create a meaningful life, both on and off the golf course
- Be yourself amid the competition
- Find what you do well and perfect it
Come alongside Cook as he shows you that in life and on the golf course, we must be willing to coach and be coached—because doing only one will leave us feeling empty.

Story
It is no secret that more than two-thirds of the shots a golfer makes are shorts ones: putts, chips, and pitches. Long drives may garner applause, but whether a golfer wants to win the Masters or just five bucks from a friend on Saturday morning, it’s the little shots that make the difference. In The Unstoppable Golfer, Dr. Bob Rotella takes the same wisdom and experience that have worked for clients like Davis Love III and David Toms to help you master this special art of short shots and avoid all the frustration out of this increasingly challenging element of the game.

Critic reviews
"Dave teaches what I have learned from experience--that trophies do fade and tarnish, but that relationships with God and other people are where we find true meaning and significance in our lives. I know you'll love this book as much as I did. It will give you more enjoyment, confidence, and hope on your journey around the links, and for your journey to eternity."
--Scott Simpson, US Open Champion 1987
"If you read this book, I can assure you that you will finish it a different person than when you started. Find what you do well and perfect it. And most of all, do it with character. Dr. David Cook is a man of character. I have learned from him. You will too."
--Tom Lehman, British Open Champion 1996, US Ryder Cup Captain 2006

Story
For more than 20 years, Heavey has staked a claim as one of America's best sportsmen writers. In feature stories and his Field & Stream column A Sportsman's Life, he has taken audiences across the country and beyond to experience his triumphs and failures as a suburban dad who happens to love hunting and fishing. This new collection gathers together a wide range of his best work - tales that are odes to the notion that enthusiasm is more important than skill and testaments to the enduring power of the natural world.

Story
Being a man or a woman in your early 60s is different than it was a generation or two ago, at least for the more fortunate of us. We aren't old...yet. But we sense it coming: Careers are winding down, kids are gone, parents are dying (friends, too), and our bodies are no longer youthful or even middle-aged. Learning to play tennis in your 50s is no small feat, but becoming a serious, competitive tennis player at the age of 60 is a whole other matter.

Decent experience
Good inspirational content; should be a lot longer though to add depth. *SPOILER* the fact that the protagonist was able to fix a marriage in the course of a night during a four day golf tournament was a little too quick for my taste (the book just didn't have enough "show-not-tell")

Great message!
If you ever want to learn how to better control your emotions on and off the course, this book is a must read. I enjoyed getting lumps in my throat listening to this book as the examples and lessons can be profound yet simply stated. I'm ready to take my game and my life to the next level of understanding and compassion. I'm no longer trapped by my score or how many birdies I make, but free to enjoy the game for what it is. I can't wait to play!

Take a step back and listen
It’s starts off really frustrating and heavy but that’s what it’s supposed to do. The story and optimal mental state that it recommends for Golf is hard to argue against. It got really religious and I felt myself get defensive but I put that on myself as being close minded. Religion / philosophy is the same thing without the power play so I just finished with an open mind and the message of this book brought me great value. Balance confidence, purpose and meaning in life. …That I will take onto the golf course and rule! This Book was very refreshing for me.

Golf's Sacred Journey... Life's Sacred Journey
This book will not only change the way you think about and play golf, it will change the way you think about life. While most golf psychology books repeat the same basic fundamentals, David Cook takes the reader through a journey that will leave you with a new perspective on golf allowing you to play more freely and to live life with greater purpose. Once you begin this compelling book, you will not be able to stop listening.

One of the best movies ever.
Speaks to life in general in the format of a golfer is time of difficulty. Inspiring, accurate, and valuable thoughts for all ages. Well presented and in terms that all should be able to appreciate if they think about the content and not just the example. Excellent to read and reread.

More Religion than Golf.
Was disappointed in that I thought this was a sappy religious book that really didn't have any redeeming golf wisdom in it. If you want a religious book then you'll probably love it.
