Straker is determined to solve the rash of mutilation murders with trimmings that beg description. Is it just coincidence, or do all the victims have something in common?

Investigative reporter Melinda Pierce will do anything to find out, by offering herself up as a sexual spittoon in order to infiltrate the arcane and lust-drenched warrens of the backstage of professional wrestling. There in malodorous locker rooms and unsavory motels, she partakes in carnal forays so gross, so downright nasty they'd make a porn star puke.

Goon, this human juggernaut, this masked rack of guts, muscle and mayhem. Is Goon just a wrestler gone insane? Or is he something hideously worse?

I am almost ashamed that I laughed out loud a few times at some of the nasties in here. Almost. Not quite. It’s Edward Lee, man. What do you expect? Inappropriate on so many levels. It wouldn’t even be Edward Lee if you didn’t throw up in your mouth a little. Goon is no exception. Trust me.

Would you consider the audio edition of Goon to be better than the print version?

No idea. I didn't know this book existed until a few days ago.

What about Joe Hempel’s performance did you like?

If he didn't puke while narrating I'd be surprised. However he was able to portray the characters well enough and I didn't have an issue telling who was who. His impression of Ric Flair needs work though

This is one of the most disgusting books I've ever read or listened to. I enjoyed the story enough, but really, Edward Lee could have turned down the gore and grotesque sexual descriptions a notch. I almost had to stop listening because it churned my stomach. Seriously, only listen if you have a strong stomach.

In all fairness, the ratings on this book for sexual content were right on. sooooo much sex in this book. it kind of distracted me from the plot of the story. at first i thought the story line was great. then i got to the end of the book and i was mostly disappointed in the ending. this was a different kind of book than i had ever read before, and honestly i probably wouldn't venture on this direction again. narrator was very good though. at one part in the story i wanted to puke after getting a mental image of what was happening, so the author gets an a for shock value.

I am going to admit I was really hesitant on this one. It was gruesome, sick, and gag inducing but I loved the dark humor and really liked the book.

Incredible story of murder and mystery.. ~ another book I just couldn't put down till my eyes blurred and the clock was saying 3am time to sleep ~ kept me right on the edge till the last page ~ great job and love the storyline ~ will I tell much about the book absolutely not and ruin it for you just know you must get this one ..

This was just what I've been needing. Not too long, not too short, heavy on the dark humor without all the cliché sarcasm, grotesque but in a way that had me rolling with laughter, a really nice supernatural twist, and a little bit of pro wrestling. I know this book will not be for everyone, but it was right up my alley. If sexual raunchiness gets you uptight, you may want to steer clear of this one. With all that being said, I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Warning!! Do not eat before or while listening as is stomach turning! Still I enjoyed listening to it as is true horror with expletive gore and sexual content. It will be awhile before I eat scrambled eggs or corn for a while. Glad there was an epilogue. Highly recommend if you listen to Matt Shaw books. Perfect narration of a super gross extreme horror. The story took a twist that felt like a bit of a cop out, but it was still good and worth listening too. The fact that someone was able to read some of the sentences out loud professionally is amazing.
