About this listen

New York Times best-selling authors E. Lynn Harris and Eric Jerome Dickey, and Blackboard best-selling authors Colin Channer and Marcus Major have joined forces in Got to Be Real, a compilation of fresh, funny, and honest love stories. Each one is a unique look at love in the modern, urban age. Harris’ leading man faces one of his greatest fears with a Valentine’s gift that could change his life forever. Dickey takes readers on a trip south of the border that leads to a steamy relationship where race and a language barrier creates no deterrent. Jamaica is the hot spot where Channer weaves his titillating tale of people in the music industry. A certified womanizer meets his match in Major’s provocative story set in Philadelphia.

These four popular African-American writers have put together a treasury of stories that is as sexy and entertaining as it is candid and thought-provoking.

The narrator on Amir & Kenya does a poor job. It's painful to listen to him. He slurs some of his words, at times he reads too slowly, like he's trying too hard to pronounce each word. At times, it becomes painful to listen to.

poor narration on story 2

Why did these stories end like this?!! Chile idk this was kinda a struggle to finish. It’s like you get to the good part and then it ends!! Rest in paradise to the writers who are no longer here. I also just remembered these stories were written in the early 90s

What in the unfinished!!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Any additional comments?

With 1 book, I thought I would get 4 great stories by 4 different authors, but only 1 of the books was good and 1 was fair. The other two just weren't what I expected from authors that I have read before.

Not what I expected from established authors

I've made several attempts to listen to this audiobook since I purchased it last year. I've yet to listen to it in it's entirety because it's just too boring. The only one I've listened to to it's end is the one with how Bobby and Alejandra met and I forced myself to listen to that one because of my love for Friends And Lovers. For the most part, these stories are long, dry and dull. I'm going to try one final time to give it a listen because I am a Dickey fan, but if it doesn't capture me this time, I'm going to delete it.
