Publisher's summary

What's grace got to do with it? The missing ingredient in most marriages isn't love, it's grace. Love inclines us to get married, but we need grace to keep that love healthy, strong, and committed. More than simply "nice", grace is that game-changing ingredient that enables us to treat each other the way God treats us—even when we don't deserve it.

In Grace Filled Marriage, Kimmel explores questions such as:

  • How can you show grace when all your spouse seems to do right now is frustrate you?
  • How can grace ramp up the frequency and temperature of your sex life?
  • How do you show grave without being taken advantage of?
  • How can God help you make grace the default mode in your marriage?

Whether your marriage is just beginning, seems healthy, or is struggling on life support, a deeper understanding of the power of grace will help it not just survive, but thrive.

Awesome

Already has improved our relationship. Truth guards grace and truth sets you free. My motto is : hurt me with the truth, don’t comfort me with a lie.

Great book

Applicable lessons and advice, I wish I had read this sooner. Also recommend Grace Based Discipline, by this authors daughter.

Some good, some of the same Christian dogma

I am really tired of the constant "wife you need to sexually fulfill your husband" mentality in the Christian church. Here they do a little better job couching it in "not a free reign for abuse" but Darcy comes on to talk about their 24/7 accessibility and how men think about sex so much more than women and it's a woman's duty to give this gift to her husband.... I agree with all the points about not weaponising sex, but I am tired of putting the responsibility on the woman.

He also spoke at length about helping your spouse feel their purpose and gave several examples of how Darcy did this for him, but none about how he did it for her.

Good points about HOW to have grace and excellent use of scripture that didn't feel like it was a knife being used to cause shame. The culmination of God at the head is great and worth the listen.

I would recommend it to friends with a "eat the meat and leave the bones" caveat.

Grace as therapy

It was nice to see Grace utilized as a founding principal to build a strong marriage, or to repair a damaged one. However, the theme and all of its elements could’ve been successfully conveyed in less than half the volume.
