About this listen

*****Audiobook format of All My Knotted-Up Life - ECPA's 2024 Christian Book of the Year Award WINNER*****

An incredibly thoughtful, disarmingly funny, and intensely vulnerable glimpse into the life and ministry of a woman familiar to many but known by few.

“It’s a peculiar thing, this having lived long enough to take a good look back. We go from knowing each other better than we know ourselves to barely sure if we know each other at all, to precisely sure that we don’t. All my knotted-up life I’ve longed for the sanity and simplicity of knowing who’s good and who’s bad. I’ve wanted to know this about myself as much as anyone. This was not theological. It was strictly relational. God could do what he wanted with eternity. I was just trying to make it here in the meantime. As benevolent as he has been in a myriad of ways, God has remained aloof on this uncomplicated request.” ―Beth Moore

All My Knotted-Up Life is a beautifully crafted portrait of resilience and survival, a poignant reminder of God’s enduring faithfulness, and proof positive that if we ever truly took the time to hear people’s full stories . . . we’d all walk around slack-jawed.

Finished in one day

First, there's nothing wrong with your download or streaming quality. I spent too long adjusting playback speed, trying different devices, re-downloading trying to figure out the "problem" with her voice. After deciding to just try to ignore it, she explains it's intentional, and gets better later on. It's her story to tell, the way she wants to tell it; but it felt like an odd choice by someone whose voice is so well-known.

Having worked through so many of Beth's Bible studies over the years, I really looked forward to hearing her story, from her, in her words with her voice. Memoirs and biographies are my favorite genre, because people are endlessly fascinating, resilient, and creative in their responses to life's circumstances.

True to her public image, she skillfully adds humor where appropriate which provides respite between difficult, heartbreaking, heavy topics. And there are heavy sections. She maneuvers skillfully through topics of sexual abuse and family mental health issues in ways which set the scenes and describe the pain without providing unnecessary, scandalous details. I appreciated that.

As one would expect from Beth, her faith, love of family, respect and caring for others is on full display throughout. Worth the time.

!

Thank you, Beth, for recording the path of your earthly life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Your rocky and turbulent experiences, even as a Child of God, bring hope to those of us left severely damaged by the ones that should have loved us most. This book proclaims so loudly that truth is to be exposed, not covered up, in order for true healing to take place. Thank you for giving me the permission to heal and for the reminder that Jesus is alongside me for my entire and specific journey during this earthly life. Hope has been renewed. I am grateful to our Father that you have been freed from the countless subliminal man-made expectations over your life and that you can now fully follow the world's only Savior with complete and reckless abandon! God bless you, Beth! In Him, Jan

Outstanding

Captivating from the first lines. Masterfully written. Courageously told. I could not love this book, or Ms. Beth, more.

Thank you Beth!

This book made me cry and laugh and smile. Hearing this all told thru your beautifully thick and lovely accent was so perfect. I felt like we were sitting together and you were opening your heart to me. Thank you for your vulnerability. Beautiful!

Beth’s faith, her ability to forgive, to endure

I loved Beth’s vulnerability and strength revealed in this book. This book is so eloquently written, as she tells of her painful journey. And through the pages, her love for the Lord and his Word shines through! I’ve done almost every Bible Study Beth has written, went to hear her speak multiple times, and I might not agree with her on every political or theological idea, but I love her ability to speak truth and share her deepest pain through poetry and humor. She’s a true sister in Christ and her love for God has always been, and is still, an inspiration to many. Thank you Beth for this wonderful book! It will stay with me for a long time.

God's goodness and sovereignty on display in Beth's life.

I love that it was read by her and I so appreciated her vulnerability. It is an encouragement to see the big picture, spanning a lifetime, of someone's faithful and flawed walk with Christ.

Healing

The words of hurt, healing and overcoming. God is good in all things! Beth, thank you so much for being transparent even when it’s not popular. God sees you! I am beyond grateful!

I didn’t love Beth Moore until this book

Prior to listening to Beth’s story I would have considered myself to be indifferent towards Beth Moore. If anything I had let the negative comments made by other prominent evangelicals distort my opinion of her. How heartlessly we can reduce a person to one point of contention or one comment most likely taken out of context. How unified the church might be if we could listen to the full raw and broken story of a person before we critique them. Hearing her story convicted me of judging a sister in Christ as an enemy rather than loving them as family. I’m so thankful she would let the world in with such vulnerability. She certainly didn’t need to do that, but she did it with words that were beautifully written, gut wrenching and full of God’s grace. I laughed, I cried, I couldn’t stop listening. Now I can truly say I love this sister of mine.

Courageous/Real/Must Hear!

I couldn’t wait to get my book in. So glad I listened to the audio version first now. To hear her voice definitely added such depth to her story. Several chapters left me in a mess of tears…some of sadness and some of awe of the goodness of God.
