Publisher's summary

Their spies were among us for years. They mapped our infrastructure, learned our weaknesses, until finally they flipped the switch and threw us back into the Dark Ages. Only OMBRA and its battalions around the world seem capable of defending Earth from the next wave of attack - terraforming. But at what price can we gain our freedom?

The Crays are pushing the human race to the edge of extinction, and we will have to learn new ways of living to defeat this threat. This is a time for heroes. For killers. For Grunts. Benjamin Carter Mason will question his identity, his beliefs, and his mission as he dives deep into the heart of an alien-transformed Los Angeles. And in the end, he might be the last person on Earth defending not just our lives but our humanity.

WOW! THIS AUTHOR HATES THE US MILITARY & CONTRACTORS!!

This author makes it very clear he thinks all US Military men are rapists, killers, and sociopaths. He cant be more wrong! He blames the mess in Iraq on US Contractors. WTF?? I am a US Marine and was a Civilian contractor for 4 yrs in IQ. First, as a Marine I would have faced a court martial if any of my Marines ever tried raping anyone or killing anyone who did not pose an immediate threat to our mission and or our lives! Though not everyone is an honorable warrior, but the major majority of Marines and Soldiers I know are nothing but honorable. I have Marines who gave their lives to save and protect children and their families in Iraq. We were there to protect, not oppress. For the contractors side, yes there were more greed motivated contractors than I would have thought. Though a huge majority of contractors are US Veterans, many of whom fought in IQ & A-stan. We earned our slot to contract in a combat zone by first securing those same combat zones. They also give their lives in support of US Military and our allies. We are not immune to war simply because we make 5 to 10 grand a month in hazardous areas. BTW it is much cheaper for governments to use contractors than it is to train, feed, supply, house, and cover all medical issues with recruiting new service members and their dependents if they have them. Your talking a difference between millions per service member vs a few hundred thousand for each contractor. While it looks like billions were just wasted away on contractors, they never mention how many more billion it costs the tax payer to fund the same amount of soldiers to so the same job, less their life insurance and or medical bills when injured or killed in a combat zone. This book is just opinionated propaganda written on fabrications a false assumptions. Dont waste your $$$ on this series if you love your country and or respect those who stand between the enemy and your family.

Needs better editing and less preaching

At points, the story was entertaining, but as a former Infantryman, so many things were just wrong. The story also needed an editor.. too much repetition, too many contradictions, terrible pontificating speeches, and all sorts of nonsense. The whole series was subpar, and not worth paying for.
