Publisher's summary

Quinton Aldren thought he could leave his past behind him.... He was wrong.

First came the development of the Personality Matrix Construct—PMC, transferring human consciousness into a machine. It changed the galaxy and the way wars were fought. Then something went wrong with PMCs and the Federation Wars toppled the galactic order. PMCs became a menace to be hunted and exterminated.

Long after the Federation Wars, the galaxy limps on. Spacers carve out an existence upon the bones of the old worlds, but things are about to change...something has begun broadcasting signals to reactivate PMCs that were stored in secret.

Quinton Aldren is a PMC. His consciousness was uploaded and stored over a century ago, before the Federation Wars. On a dying world along the galactic fringe, Quinton Aldren awakens in the body of an archaic android that’s barely operational.

All Quinton wants is to leave his past behind, but the broadcasts keep occurring. More PMCs are coming online, and not all of them are stable. Federation War machines are on the hunt for them, and they don’t care who gets in their way.

Quinton might have missed the war, but his link to the past might be the key to save humanity’s future.

From the author of the international best-selling First Colony series comes another science fiction series in a sprawling galactic setting. The Federation Chronicles is set far into the future long after humanity has colonized the stars.

Strap yourself in. Federation Chronicles includes all three books in the best-selling military science fiction series.

Boring.

It has a really interesting concept but the story line is pretty boring. There isn't much for the narrator to work without a little more personality in the characters.

Great series

I absolutely enjoyed this series. The first 2 hours were a bit of a slog but it was worth it. I am running out of Ken Lozito books to listen to. The first colony series is just as good.

Good and recommended

The Federation Chronicles" series proved to be a delightful surprise that exceeded my expectations. The story is brimming with creativity and intrigue, capturing my interest from the very beginning. However, I must admit that the narrative style, being told in the third person, posed a challenge for me to connect with the hero character. It somehow distanced me from the protagonist's emotions and experiences, which I believe could have been more engaging if presented differently.

Nonetheless, the narration itself was commendable, though it had some room for improvement. The voice artist delivered a solid performance, yet I felt it lacked the necessary emotional depth and varied intonation during critical dramatic moments. A touch of more dynamic delivery would have further enriched the audiobook experience.

In conclusion, "The Federation Chronicles" series is a captivating tale filled with imagination, but the choice of the third-person perspective and the somewhat monotoned narration might have dampened its full potential. Despite this, the series is still worth exploring for its intriguing plot and well-crafted storylines.

Well, I wanted a long story

Unfortunately, while starting out as new and interesting… at some point, things became flat, two dimensional , painfully boring…

The arc of the story came early on and then flat … Really became skipping to the end…

As for the end… not worth the credit…

Lots of promise, not sure it needed a trilogy

The first book set up a lot and the pacing was great. Leaned into a lot of "futuristic" things like holo screens instead of just saying screen, but a fun concept and complex characters - the men anyway. The books are heavy on the male gaze, and it is both uncomfortable and unnecessary to the story. Really, we don't need a lengthy description of how hot a one-scene side character is, it doesn't add anything. The one lady character we get to know is a ship captain and of course she has a crush on the main character. How original, maybe she gets to be more of her own person at the end of the third book, I didn't finish it.
Second book builds on it and feels like it's stretching the story, could probably have resolved everything in this one, but instead we get a setup for a finale and the last third of the book is pretty flat and without a lot of plot.
Third book I just can't get through, there's a lot being talked about but it's not driving the story or the characters much. I stopped after the first third. I might go listen to the prequel story eventually.

The narrator is great, adding a lot to a fairly dull script. Distinct voices that are easy to identify, good pacing, consistent pronunciation. Phil, you're doing a great job.

I wanted to like this more than I did. Probably worth the credit given the number of hours I listened to, but it's close.

A Captivating Sci-fi World builder

Captivating story that is full of action and movement through this world builder. It might help to slow down the Audio just slightly if you are doing passive active listening and hate to miss any details. This speaker goes a little fast in their reading versus others. I've listened to around 120 books on here. I read a handful of reviews stating they were confused about the story....just slow down the Audio slightly my friends. It was an awesome series!

Great story, highly entertaining

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Thanks for making the entire trilogy available with one credit. Probably the best value I’ve experienced yet on Audible. Well done Ken Lozito!
