About this listen

With his dying breath, Bobby Lowell begs Ellison Russell, "Tell her I love her." Unable to refuse, Ellison struggles to find the girl the murdered boy loved. Too bad an epically bad blind date, a vindictive graffiti artist, and multiple trips to the emergency room keep getting in the way. Worse, a killer has Ellison in his sights, her newly rebellious daughter is missing, and there's yet another body in her hostas. Mother won't be pleased.

Now Ellison must track down not one, but two runaway teenagers, keep her promise to Bobby, and elude the killer - all before her next charity gala committee meeting.

Compelling!

Don’t listen to this audio book before bedtime if you want to get up at a reasonable hour. Not that it’s gory or anything like that but because you’ll want to listen to just one more chapter. Practice chapter discipline, turn the book off and get to bed. Then start it up again first thing in the morning!

Enjoyed the second book more.

The narrator sounded less robotic and more human in this one. I enjoyed it and the story.

Twists and Turns

Another stellar Cozy Mystery from an author who know how to keep a reader/listener guessing while wrapping her story in humor, intrigue and country club richness.

I am starting to wonder if all country clubs are hotbeds of perverted members whose predilections are unsavory and doubtful Cozy fodder. I hope the third well-told story has a few regular type murderers.

Beaulieu does her usual gripping, chatty narration with often dripping with sarcasm excellence. She needs to look up the pronunciation of peignoir which is not peen-wahr. Other than that slight infraction she’s perfect for this author’s words.

On to Book 3.

I enjoyed this book.

It's an easy, fun, read. Not complicated it intricate but sometimes that's exactly what I want.

Even better than the first

I love this series that takes place in the 1970's. Plenty of dry humor, and a great mystery. The narrator does a fantastic job with the various voices. Looking forward to more.

Very cute series!

All the stories that I have listened to so far in this series have been very cute and entertaining, and this one is no exception! There’s a dog and an ever present Mr. Coffee in it (they all take place in the 1970’s), plus all sorts of other interesting characters. This one in particular includes ostensibly macho men who have a fetish for dressing up in, well, um, women’s stuff! Some scenes, taking place in a local drag bar, do get pretty wild, hysterically funny, and quite out of hand.

Oh, and the narrator is very good as well. With her calm demeanor and refined elocution, she definitely stands solid as the official voice of Ellison Russell, the main character.

So much more

There is so much more to every book in this series than a mere cozy mystery. I am truly in awe of the author’s ability to craft such intelligent, witty and engaging stories and plot lines . Even better that it’s all set in the 1970s. THIS is true art.

A fun interesting read

This was an interesting read as it had lots of twists but sometimes too much wining from daughter and main character’s mother. Please stand up to her. Makes it too unbelievable.

captivating story

wasn't sure about a story set in 1974 - preferring more modern settings - but this series and this book captured my interest right away, enough so that I have now bought the whole series. Makes me smile as I am transported back in time to when I was young and realize just how innocent we were then and how much new inventions have made our lives so much easier than these 'old' days.
