About this listen

It begins with a phone call. It ends with a missing child.

On a warm summer's morning, 13-year-old schoolgirl Constance Lawson is reported missing.

A few days later, Constance's uncle, Karl Lawson, suddenly finds himself swept up in a media frenzy created by journalist Amanda Bowe implying that he is the prime suspect.

Six years later...

Karl's life is in ruins. His marriage is over, his family destroyed. But the woman who took everything away from him is thriving. With a successful career, a husband, and a gorgeous baby boy, Amanda's world is complete. Until the day she receives a phone call, and in a heartbeat she is plunged into every mother's worst nightmare.

An utterly compelling psychological thriller that will keep you guessing to the very last minute. Perfect for fans of Louise Jensen, Claire Douglas, and Sarah Denzil's Silent Child.

Great story

The storyline is gripping but the narrator's American accents leave much to be desired. Edge of your seat.

The reader is distracting...

I really wanted to like this book. The premise was kinda cool, but the reader was too distracting most of the time. I enjoy a good accent (a wide variety of them, in fact!) but this Irish one was too muddled. The story was pretty good and intriguing but I found myself wandering often.

Definitely Griping

A real page turner that cautions you to pause before you make assumptions and place accusations on another's life. This book is almost the very definition of what goes around, comes around. Amanda will never understand the full affect her job has on others until she becomes the headline and is faced with the same painstaking worry and distress as those she wrote about during their most vulnerable and grievous time. The story you write and highlight may someday be your own as Amanda will come to realize.

Great story ; awful narrator

I loved the story I thought it was great, but the narrator was awful she spoke to slowly and sound like she had wade of spit in her mouth. I will not purchase another book with this narrator.

Guilty part 2 this also takes in part 1

Guilty was a bit hard for me to keep up with. Due to the differences in our language, accents and word usage. Overall story is based Ireland.

Once I became verbally aware, the performance was awesome. You could easily know the difference characters as the story was told with many characters.

There were parts of the story that just dragged, I listen to the same parts over and over because I would go to sleep and other times it was very interesting I wouldn't fall asleep even when I ready needed to go to sleep.

Interesting from beginning to end.Excellent

First I want to mention the wonderful narrating by Laoisha O'Callaghan. Perfection.
A tragic event hurls a family into the public spotlight by an over zealous female reporter. Right or wrong she singles out a family member and is relentless in reporting his every move. She convicts him in the press and the accusations takes it's toll and his life is destroyed until .....
'Guilty' is a must read book.

Loved the book but not the reader

Would you consider the audio edition of Guilty to be better than the print version?

This book kept you guessing the whole time. I think I would have preferred the print version only because I didn't like the reader's voice.

What did you like best about this story?

The little boy was unharmed in the end.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Laoisha O'Callaghan?

Someone whose voice has more clarity. Didn't like her voice, too thick and it was hard to determine what she was saying some times.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Neither, it kept me on the edge of my seat.

Any additional comments?

Very good story line!

Awesome!!

Loved the story but the narrator’s accent is a bit much - it’s quite heavy and sometimes annoying.
