About this listen

Guitar fretboard magic! Unlock all the notes in six simple exercises!

Why would I want to learn all the notes of my fretboard?

Over my 25+ year career as a musician and guitar teacher, I have come across many guitarists who cannot name all the frets on the fretboard. Learning the guitar or music theory for that matter, with no knowledge of the basic fundamental organization of the fretboard is a bit like trying to learn to swim without getting into the water. While not impossible, it just doesn’t make much sense! This book will make sure you don’t wind up like countless other guitar players who can’t name the most basic building blocks on their instruments: the notes!

Here’s why you should learn the fretboard:

  • Understand how the instrument is arranged for melodic and harmonic application
  • Create a mind map that lets you navigate the fretboard seamlessly and quickly
  • Communicate musical ideas to the written form much faster
  • Create a deeper bond with your instrument

Here’s what you’ll find inside:

  • The easiest system of learning the fretboard, organized into six easy exercises
  • A step-by-step approach that will give you results fast and painlessly
  • All the charts and notation/tabs to show you exactly what to practice
  • Beginner-friendly - no prior music theory experience necessary!
  • Blank tab charts and chord diagrams to design your own versions of the exercises
  • Includes access to a free video companion course

So, what are you waiting for? Start your guitar learning journey now! Or, simply continue your journey and make your guitar practice even more satisfying by scrolling up and clicking the "buy now" button right now!

Great for even a beginner like me!

I picked up an electric guitar at a flea market and have been trying to teach myself how to play with little success because I spend all my time searching for the notes. This lesson plan was simple to follow and "click" it all made sense! I'm going to try to apply this same technique on the vintage dulcimer I just found at a yard sale. Thanks Nick!

A really useful, easy to follow along guide

This audiobook greatly helped me to learn all the notes on my guitar neck in just a few days. I had previously struggled to commit all the notes to memory-much to the dismay of my guitar coach! The exercises start simple and are very easy to follow along with. Just a few minutes a day really sped up my learning process. The downloadable PDF has everything all laid out, with diagrams and score paper too. Great stuff Nick!

The solution to my main frustration !

One of the most annoying things I’ve encountered whilst learning the guitar is having to constantly look over at the strings and place my fingers on the right strings for a new note. This makes it difficult to play out my favourite tunes without these breaks. The book provided me with a step my step guide on how to practice and start memorising these notes. The exercises do require patience and consistency, however the result are well worth it. The narrators voice was really clear and easy to follow. You also get the pdf version for free which help visualise the lessons.

Short but effectI've

This book provides a basic skill that is fundamentally necessary to get past a blocker that is very common to most guitarists.

Efficient theory, skewed timeline

Time required is significant (as should be expected), he suggests practicing up to 15 minutes a day but later states it isnt an unreasonable goal to learn the fretboard in 24 hours over 1 or 2 week period. That would require 1.7-3.5hrs/day of practice. If you follow the instruction at maximum 15min/day it would take you 96 days to complete 24 hours of practice. So anywhere from 1 week to 3 months to memorize... Definitely sound methodology though. Straight to the point no fluff. This is literally about dedication and willpower to learn and change. Similar instructions to these are available for free with easy searches on popular online video platforms but this information and the included .pdf are arranged quite well.

Great ideas for a memory challenged person like me

As a beginner I have been frustrated by 'over thinking' my lessons. Nick gives me solid practical ideas that I can try out - no tricks or weird workarounds. The PDF guide works with the narration to lead you thru the exercises which works for me since I a bit visual in my learning. He also pointed me to his video work online which is definitely a bonus. Thank you very much.

Great System

It’s like anything else that you commit to. It takes time and consistency and a system. Nick Morrison gives you the system in a straight forward, progressive manner that, if you apply it will help you master your fretboard.

Great for beginners

I found this audible straight to the point. The book was explained in great detail. You could imagine yourself, playing the Fred board while listening to the audible. I found the narrator was speaking very clear, and had a calming voice, which was relaxing.
