About this listen

The galaxy is thrown into chaos as each side makes its alliances. The lines have been drawn.

As the slow machine of war starts to turn, allies and enemies alike move their pieces in a bid for victory. Territories are claimed and lost. Skirmishes in deep space determine ownership of the jump lanes that crisscross the galaxy.

As Barton battles his way through selection for the Special Operations Group, his old friends from Odin Nine-Five are outside the wire, protecting a politician.

enjoyed it

Still not loving the short format. 8-9 hrs as D Ford seems to need more time to develop a good plot as in “after..” series.

Still want longer format …

I recommend this. A++ Kept me listing a lot more than other books similar to this. Killing, gore, explicit insults without the love story BS. The narrator was great.

Entertaining

I absolutely enjoy the kind of banter that is written into this story. I found myself waiting in anticipation when the story was going back to Barton. Overall this is a well written story and I like that Ford didn’t science the f_ _k out of it. Thank you and good job. Need more!

It’s tough to follow up with a great sequel. The story evolves enough to make it feel like we’re not repeating the same concepts. I normally don’t enjoy military sci fi that focuses on training, but this book does a good job of limiting that and mixing the story with the characters events and I love how it came together in the end. Like the first book, the author does a good job of making you hate the enemy. I found myself grinding my teeth and tensed up at times. Any book that can do that is a winner. Looking forward to the next one.

A great follow up!

This is gotta be the 8th or 9th book I've read from the same author and they're all fresh. Even though in some cases the stories are similar the characterization and depiction of the military mindset is wonderfully unique to each book/series read.

Great

I'm a sailor and I get Marine jargon as much as Navy, so in a weird but oddly familiar way this series reminds me of the past. it's a little like being deployed, minus the aliens and obvious tech. a good series. seems like the Russians will never be the good guys. Fiction as in life...

Veterans will get it, but thats not a bad thing.

Great continuation of the story also im glad we didn't get the basic military training sequence of the DI yelling at the mc also damn that scientist at the end clearly has a screw or two loose but can't wait for the next one!

Great second book in this series. Michael Barton is our hero and he's so funny sometimes. In the first book he killed Aleksander Komarov and in this one, beside all the killing going on in space, Aleksander's brother, Viktor, is out for revenge. He doesn't get it but that doesn't mean he'll forget about what Barton did.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 155 times.

As for the narration: James Patrick Cronin continues to do a fantastic job narrating this series. Can't wait for book 3, due out December 21st.

Loving this series..
