Publisher's summary

For months Clara Gardner trained to face the fire from her visions, but she wasn't prepared for the choice she had to make that day. And in the aftermath, she discovered that nothing about being part angel is as straightforward as she thought.

Now, torn between her love for Tucker and her complicated feelings about the roles she and Christian seem destined to play in a world that is both dangerous and beautiful, Clara struggles with a shocking revelation: Someone she loves will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

In this compelling sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand captures the joy of first love, the anguish of loss, and the confusion of becoming who you are.

Fun series

This is for teenagers, but I have liked the series so far. Nothing too dep, but not boring either. If you like Twilight, this is about the same level.

Keeps me reading

I’m a huge YA fantasy/romance fan, so this book hit all my marks. I was transported back into this fascinating love triangle that really makes me swoon. I’ve cried, laughed and smiled like an idiot while listening. Sometimes the narrator’s voices sound similar for some characters, so if you’re not paying attention it can get confusing at times who is talking. Other than that everything was well written. I’m on to the next book!

After reading the last book, this is better

What made the experience of listening to Hallowed the most enjoyable?

I really liked how all the characters began growing, and I especially enjoyed the relationship between the characters- main character and mom, main character and friend, brother, boyfriend and ultimately the one she's meant to be with.

What other book might you compare Hallowed to and why?

It took me a while to get into the first book, but devoured the second. The series starts slow, but her writing and story telling gets better with each. As to compare it to other books, it stands on it's own.

Which character – as performed by Samantha Quan – was your favorite?

I loved all her characters- she did a superb job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely.

Any additional comments?

Finish the series with this book. I was totally disappointed with the ending of the trilogy. i had to re-write in my head :)

This book was harder to put down when compared to the first. it has a faster pace and better execution than the first.

a good continuation

enjoyed this book as much as the first. it was a good continuation to the story. still wish the narrator could give more to the characters as far as the voices. But overall read well and a enjoyable story.

Truly lovely.

Would you listen to Hallowed again? Why?

Yes in a year or so. It'll be nice to go back and experience angelic angst with Clara again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hallowed?

The ending was lovely. Sad, but lovely.

What does Samantha Quan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Nice voices. I focused on the story, not her various voices. Good work.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Run into the light.

Any additional comments?

I preferred this book to the first. Maybe it's because Clara has become more sure of herself, more comfortable with her wings, I guess. I look forward to the third book, which should be out soon!
