About this listen

An original novel set in the Halo universe—based on the New York Times bestselling video game series!

2559. It has been a year since the rogue artificial intelligence Cortana seized control of the Domain, an otherworldly dimension housing a vast information network. With an array of Forerunner weapons at her disposal, Cortana set out to enforce an authoritarian peace on the civilizations of the galaxy. But as the United Nations Space Command flagship Infinity prepares to strike against Cortana at Zeta Halo, another plan has also been set in motion.

An ancient access point hidden on a seemingly insignificant human colony has become the focus of a parallel effort to claim the Domain and its immeasurable capabilities. The UNSC, however, needs a key: a living, forsaken product of an old war. As a new generation of heroes rise to meet this challenge, and Cortana's pursuit of control reaches a desperate and sudden crescendo, a cunning, ruthless warrior emerges from the shadows of the Banished, who has vowed to fill the new power vacuum by any means necessary…

Hope

This is the best book the series has had since the first decade, not saying the other recent ones are bad. Just left me hopeful that the series can recover. I'd say top five, up there with fall of reach, cole protocol and contact harvest.

No Sacrifice Without Love

"Sacrifice is the ecstacy of giving the best we have to the one we love the most" - J
Oswald Sanders. With Halo: Empty Throne, we are given a trove of many feelings to deal with. Suspicion, Friendship, Betrayal, and Sacrifice. Told from the angles of familiar friends, and foes of old alliances, the story revolves around the drive to the access of the Domain which was previously controlled by Cortana in Halo 5 to present 2560. Kelly Gay tells an amazing story about comradery as much about a story of revenge and self-realization. The incredibly detailed imagery she presents goes swiftly, even brutally, with the emotional complexity of each character.

No one protagonist receives less attention than the other, either. You'll definitely be either snearing, or smiling (or tearful) about a bunch of different appearances and references within this story. And the reunification of two certain characters will have you giddy (like me) despite being bittersweet towards the end. Olly Olly Oxen Free. Definitely another good purchase from Kelly Gay. I swear, she needs to be a writer for all Halo productions. Not just books. She knows the universe, so well. I hope she stays with the universe forever! All in all, pick this up wherever you can!

I wish it felt more like legacy Halo

I feel that the story focuses to much on displaying compassion to compromise the survival of humanity or success of an operation. the Spartans are displayed as letting emotion drive their actions. In past books years of spartan training make the Spartans appear as War God's. This book does not depict Spartans as they have been. this really ruined the story immersion for me
