About this listen

A Bulgarian arms dealer known as the Ghost moves into Harding's turf with sights on controlling the ports. Supplying terrorist cells with electromagnet pulse weapons capable of blacking out major cities, the Ghost puts a bounty on Harding's West Coast Avengers.

Flooding the area with Boko Haram Nigerian gangsters and assassins imported to cause havoc among the population hits a snag. The terrorist arms dealer's forces ram head on into an unimpressed Monster Squad of killers they never dreamed existed in politically correct America.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes but it is difficult to listen to a good story poorly narrated.

What did you like best about this story?

John Harding's no nonsense posse is at its best. Nice character development for future stories.

What didn’t you like about Don Kline’s performance?

A very choppy, monotone, performance. Narrator continually grasps for air mid sentence. Read too quickly and without passion.

Changing narrator was a mistake.

I can't believe the difference between the narrators. I've got to finish the book, but it is AWFUL!!!! All I can say to Don Kline is, DECAFE!! Slow the ..... Down!! *ugh*

Along with everyone else....WHERE IS KEVIN PIERCE?

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Was disappointed in reading by Don Kline, perhaps because I was used to hearing Kevin Pierce's reading and cadence. It took me a bit of time to accept new narrator and I found the personal aspects of the book enjoyable, but the action story seemed uninspired and the ending was terrible. I wish I could give a more positive review as I enjoyed the previous 4 books

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Not sure what I could have done to fix action portions of book. I would have to do a complete rewrite of them. I would certainly have changed the ending so reader could have a more finished conclusion to this portion of the series. I kept checking back to see if I had missed the real ending.

What three words best describe Don Kline’s voice?

Cadence is off.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Not unless the movie had a better rewrite. Also the torture portions would be hard to view on film.

Any additional comments?

Please do better with Book 6 and bring back Kevin Pierce as narrator.

Miss narration by Kevin Pierce

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

As many others have said, the narrator (using the term loosely) basically ruins the story by his lack of competence in presenting the book. It was hard to keep listening to it, but I liked the story line (as usual with this series) and forced myself to continue.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really liked how they used Al in this story, and tied in the team all coaching girl's softball. Brought a bit more 'true life' to the story.

What didn’t you like about Don Kline’s performance?

Everything! He really didn't narrate, he read...and didn't do a great job at that! No inflection, no attempt to change character voices and he paused at the wrong times while reading. I will never listen to another book he is narrating.

Was Hard Case V: Blood and Fear worth the listening time?

If you can get past the narration, the story is pure John Harding...the Dark Lord.

Any additional comments?

Please don't use Don Kline again!

Great Story...horrible narration!

I was not aware until the end that it was the author reading. I enjoyed the previous narrator but the story itself came through. I understand there ate 5 more books in this series I hope Audio will be setting them up for listing soon.

Another action packed read

Why did they change the narrator? I like the story line but the narrator destroys the experience.

Could not listen to the book.

Loved the first 4 with Kevin Pierce reading. But Don Kline's reading / performance is sadly lacking.

Bring back Kevin Pierce
