About this listen

"Uplifting and lighthearted with sassy dialogue and delicious wit, this modern-day comedy will have you rolling around on the floor laughing. My top-of-the-list romcom for 2020!” (Charmaine Pauls, USA Today best-selling author)

“A feel good, steamy romance so hilarious reading it counts as an ab work out. I laughed harder than I had in months, and thought I might die of second hand embarrassment several times.” (May Sage, USA Today best-selling romance)

My new assignment at work: Test out toys. Yup, that kind.

Well, technically, it’s to test the app that controls the toys remotely.

One problem? The showgirl who’s supposed to test the hardware (as in, the actual toys) joins a nunnery.

Another problem? This project is important to my Russian boss, the broody, mouthwateringly sexy Vlad, a.k.a. the Impaler.

There’s only one solution: Test both the software and the hardware myself...with his help.

Note: This is a raunchy slow-burn stand-alone romantic comedy featuring a quirky, nerdy heroine, her hot, mysterious Russian boss, and two guinea pigs that may or may not be into scissoring each other. If any of the above is not your cup of tea, run far, far away. Otherwise, buckle in for a snort-water-up-the-nose-funny, feel-good ride.

Extra note: The epilogue is narrated by Sebastian York.

hahaha love

Contemplating filing a complaint with the author vis a vis my sides and face still aching from laughing so hard at this book. Needless to say, Misha Bell nailed it with this quirky RomCom. Hard Code is a quick read that has no shortage of laugh out loud moments. I mean hullo, you had me at sex toy app developer. I now want two guinea pigs and my very own Russian vampire. Can't wait to read about more couples in this series.

embarrassingly delicious!

The narrative was perfect and I am not going to lie I had to pause it because I got embarrassed for the main character, Fanny. I was laughing out loud and talking to myself in the car probably looking like a crazy person. This was mortifying but amazingly sexy.

Skip the epilogue

This was a good contemporary romance between a smart coder and her Russian boss. I mostly liked it, even though this review is going to come off very negative.

First, a warning: This story has several sections of cringe humor. If you're a reader who is uncomfortable with second-hand embarrassment, this may not be the audiobook for you. For example, the heroine loses her eyebrows in a depilatory accident before she tries a sex toy that gets "lost" in her rectum, resulting in the Russian boss taking her to the emergency room for x-rays.

Ava Erickson did a fine job narrating the main part of the book. No criticism to her at all.

The thing that annoyed me the most was the existence of the epilogue. This is the only section Sebastian York narrates. Normally, he's a great narrator who brings a lot to his performances, but his Russian accent here is awful. It ruins what was already a poor piece of writing. As a reader, I'm often bored of the "level up epilogue," and this epilogue doesn't add anything to the story other than the couple getting engaged in Iceland underneath the aurora borealis. The author should have skipped it.

Honestly, the quality of the epilogue makes me want to skip the other two books in the series. If the male narrators aren't going to come in to the story until the very end and then not have anything interesting to do, I can find my contemporary romance kicks elsewhere.

So funny!

I laughed till I cried listening to this book. I don’t know if it would have been the same without Ava Erickson and Sabastian York. These two are my favorite. Eva made this character come alive. I’m not an expert but the writing was great. There was not a scene that did not make since.

What a disappointment

Well, this was a really cute story, and I enjoyed it, I was so disappointed that the narration by Sebastian York was all of about five minutes long. I tried to listen to anything that he narrates, but will be leery in the future.

Only one narrator

This was a quick and funny story, but there was really only one narrator (Ava Erickson). Sebastian York only can in at the end. Wish the story gave a little more on the male side.

Truly funny!

I work in the software industry so this book was especially funny. I love the inner dialogue of Fanny and the mishaps of video conferencing - my worst nightmares! Vlad is sweet and caring, the families are quirky as real life, and the romance is great.
