About this listen

A former number-one Pfizer sales rep presents a behind-the-scenes look at pharmaceutical sales and the most talked-about prescription drug in history.

Hard Sell tells you things about the American pharmaceutical industry you'd rather not know and about practices you'd rather weren't happening. But once you pick it up, you won't want to put this book down. Jamie Reidy is to the pharmaceutical business what Jerry Maguire was to professional sports and Frank Abagnale (Catch Me If You Can) was to bank fraud. He's the guy who's been there, done that, and walked away with the insider stories. You'll find yourself rooting for Reidy and at the same time, you'll be shocked by the realities of the world that paid his salary.

Hard Sell is a witty expose of an industry that touches nearly everyone in contemporary America. It reveals the questionable practices of drug reps, nurses, and even physicians. Reidy traces his ups and downs as a rep for giant drug manufacturer Pfizer, maker of some of the most widely prescribed and used drugs in existence, including Viagra. With equal parts self-confidence and self-mockery, Reidy tells it like it is in the drug-selling trenches that are our local doctors' offices. The result is a funny and fascinating book.

Reidy tells a tale of interest to every consumer, and at the same time manages to keep it light and funny enough to keep the reader coming back for more. His self-effacing humor is most engaging, and helps to impart his information in digestible amounts.

Delightful

but this depiction of 21st century American culture is ultimately sad and depressing. I may go Mass tomorrow to pray for it.

Entertaining, sure, .......

Great Story, Perfect Narrator

Mostly mildly interesting personal anecdotes. Not much of an expose on Big Pharma. Doctors and office staff actually come off shadier than drug companies.

Semi-interesting, not all that whistle blowing

I’m A ride share driver. A few weeks back I had the pleasure of two very funny guys in my car. Great conversation! It turns out that one of these guys was Jamie Reidy. Awesome person and an awesome read. As funny in person as in print.

Easy sell for me

A fun listen. Very light. Almost harder to believe that it is actually true. Sounds more like a work of fiction.
