Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author K. Bromberg brings you a romance about love, forgiveness, and living every day to the fullest.

I know finding and signing a military vet to the agency is a long shot - but it’ll be good press just letting him try out. That’s what I tell my family, rather than admit I can’t get the letter he wrote us five years ago out of my head.

But what I tell the bartender in his hometown is a lie. I know veterans protect each other. So I pretend to be a graduate student. Sparks. Flame. Fire. I accidentally got in too deep.

I didn’t expect to develop feelings for Gunner Camden. And there’s no way I can admit to my lies now, not without destroying what we share. So I’ll keep faking it.

There are two versions of me: before, and after deployment. Back then I was a screwup kid. I’d lie, cheat, and steal my way out of everything. My only love was baseball. After I started fighting, I found out there had been another path for me. One that involved my dream. But by then I had seen too much.

The old me was dead, so I put my dreams to rest, too. Then Chase Kinkade walks into my bar and reminds me that life is meant to live. No regrets. Fresh. Happy. Hopeful. I can start to see a new dream, with her.

But sometimes things are too good to be true...and dishonesty is the one thing I can’t forgive.

Are you ready to fall for the Kincade sisters and the men who love them in K. Bromberg's sexy, contemporary sports-romance series? These books can all enjoyed as stand-alones, but you’ll also enjoy listening to them as a series!

Meant to be

I've been looking forward to Chase's story. She's the youngest Kincaid sister so I knew that her story would be special. Gunner is just the person to heal her and she helps to heal him. I'm not sure if she would have come clean with Gunner if things would have been better but they did work out. This story brought some tears when I was listening. Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood were terrific narrators.

Amazing end to this series ❤️

I have Thoroughly enjoyed this series and I’m sad to see it come to an end. Gunner was an amazing catch from day one, Chase for sure took her sweet time to come clean but I’m all about long drawn out climatic drama. Thanks to Bromberg for bringing us another sport filled series (although this book lacked the sports)

Great series!

I enjoyed every book in this series. Every story was completely different and yet kept the characters and story lines going from the previous books. Highly recommend these books.

Jason Clarke is my new favorite narrator!!! His voice grabs my heart and does things I cant utter...lol..

Now for the story, i loved it. I could slap Chase for being an idiot at times, but other than that Now I need to go read the books before this one. I'm hoping they are just as good. Engoy...I know I did!!

What a way to love and forgive !!

I loved Savanah Peachwood and Jason Clarke's performance, even though the tears.
K. Brambaurgh hits it out of the park again!!
Chase and Gunner's story is filled with unexpected love and forgivable hatred that pulled two characters back together filled with tears.
I loved how Chase tried, and failed to open her truths to Gunner, however ot until the truth slapped her in the face.
Not until she realizes that the man she's been searching for is Gunner himself.
The story has highs and lows that break your heart for both people. Yet learning what a letter and the knowing that the amazing man she falls in love with, could break him irrevocably, does Chase realize the hurt she causes.
Filled with kids from families who have lost a parent to the horrors of war, Gunner shows them what he never had at the loss of his own father.
I can't recommend this story enough.
A Definite MUST READ !!!

Raw, emotional story

Hard to Lose is a raw emotional story that held me hostage from the first page until the last!
Gunnar has been living through his guilt and the nightmares left from his time in the military but he has also done so much for so many others since his time in the service. He is a good guy with a big heart who has learned to move on from the loss of his life’s dreams. But sometimes those lost dreams lead to other dreams and Chase is a dream and future he never saw coming.
In searching for the author of a long lost letter, Chase finds an amazing, broken man with a giving heart who puts honesty in high regard so when Chase’s innocent white lie gets out of hand and he finds out, forgiveness will be hard to find.
Gunnar and Chase may have started out their relationship with them not really knowing the truth about each other but their chemistry and the pull towards one another is undeniable. Can they overcome the obstacles thrown in their way, find forgiveness and move on to the happily ever after that they both deserve? Read, enjoy and find out for yourself!
I also had the added benefit of listening to the audio version of this story and the narrators did an amazing job and it definitely added to my enjoyment of this story!

Wonderful

This is a surprisingly emotional book. I’ve enjoyed the other books in the series so I was excited to see the youngest Kincaid daughter finally get her story. Chase and Gunner have amazing chemistry right off the bat a butt when Chases’ secrets are revealed they risk losing everything.

COULD BE THE BEST IN A 5 ⭐️ SERIES

When a letter, written in the past by a heartsick Soldier who’d once had a shot at making it big in Baseball, lands on Chase’s desk she feels an instant connection to it and a deep need to find out what happened to the promising young Pitcher in the five years since writing his short sweet letter. And it sounds like a great plan when she decides to use it to track him down and gain a publicity event for her family’s business. But Chase’s heart will break at the end of a whirlwind romance because her secrets, her lies and her continually putting off telling the truth devastated a haunted hero and damaged the love of the very best man she ever knew.

There was attraction and chemistry from the moment Chase and Gunner met.. there were fireworks on their first date.. there were breathy resolves of ‘casual’ and end dates alongside their first kiss. And, from then on, there was a connection of souls, a friendship, a learning of each other’s characters and a passionate promise of more as they let their bodies do the talking. But Chase’s heart and head warred against each other in an emotional tug-of-war between love and/or honesty.. and, as expected, the impact of her betrayal devastated them both.

Worth a credit? Yes, it was a frustrating story because I wanted to shake some sense into Chase for her stupid stupid lies and not coming clean. Yes, because the relationship built and the romance grew from just sex to deep and meaningful in such an organic natural way. Yes, because Gunner was such a wonderful person, a hero with a tender, damaged, war-torn heart.. and scenes of him with the boys whose parents went to War but never came home.. well that was humbling, heartbreakingly and touching. And yes, because the dual POV narration by Savannah and Jason (.. love you Jason) fit the characters perfectly and together they brought the well-written story, the conflicts of the heart, the range of feels and the heartwarming soul-to-soul love to life.

OMG, Jackpot!!!

The story is one that you'll listen to over and over. The whole series is. This book draws you in and you forget that its being narrated. The narrators are just so good. I can't wait to read/listen to all of these books in the series. I can't wait to hear Papa Kincaid's story next...
