About this listen

Performed with duet narration by Connor Crais and Erin Mallon!

A forbidden romance with my brother’s hockey teammate wasn’t on my to-do list when I moved across the country…

Neither was getting locked out of a friend’s place wearing next to nothing.

Or spending the night with the sexy stranger who rescues me.

But I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone so getting out of the rest of my clothes with him seems like a good way to start.

In the morning, I learn the filthy-mouthed man with the talented hands is not only the hotshot new hockey player on my brother’s team: he’s also–wait for it–my brand new roommate.

I’m a good student turned good librarian. A rule-follower. I’m not the kind of girl who does complicated flings. So we agree to another rule: friends-only.

It’s not easy though. Wes is bossy, flirty and generous.

He gives me rides to work.

Pitches in at my library’s fundraiser.

Takes care of me when I get hurt.

And looks at me like I’m the only one.

Soon, I’m falling hard for my brother’s teammate.

Especially when Wes comes to my door and tells me exactly how he’d like to break our rules.

Every single one.

Sweet and Perfect

The Boyfriend Goal was exactly what I hoped for when I picked up this story. Lauren Blakely always crafts a fun story that doesn't have a ton of angst, but is always funny, sweet, and super sexy and this one definitely fit the bill. Josie was a girl who knew what she wanted and despite it being outside of her comfort zone, she made it happen and I loved Wesley for her. He was just the right amount of supportive, sweet, funny, and filthy and their chemistry was perfect.

Not only was this story fantastic, but the audio narration in duet format by Connor Crais and Erin Mallon was absolutely perfect. Their voices blend so well together.

Great start of a new hockey series!

Josie is excited about starting her new job at the library. Just moving to town, her friend has offered Josie the couch in her apartment until she’s able to find a place of her own. While out getting to know her new city, Josie meets a handsome stranger. There’s immediate chemistry, and they spent a wonderful evening together. The next day, they go their separate ways.

After a series of odd events, Josie new apartment is no longer available. Her brother Christian, captain of a professional hockey player, asks his teammate, Wesley if he still has a spare room at his condo his sister can use temporarily. Wesley, being the great teammate he is, offers his room. When Christian introduces Josie to Wesley, they’re shocked to see just how small their world has become. Even though there’s still a strong attraction between them, they decide on a hands-off roomie relationship. As they spend time more time together and get to know each other, the hands-off portion proves to be more difficult.

I loved everything about this sweet, charming, and pretty steamy love story. Josie, the naughty librarian, and Wesley, the hockey player falling for his teammate’s sister. While living together, they took time to really know one another. Their love grew from strong chemistry at first, but over time, they became friends. It was such a joy to see everything unfold. Their banter and scorching heat was the best!

I adored Josie’s family and friends, and Wesley’s teammates. I can’t wait to see which teammate’s story will be next. This is the first book in the new Love and Hockey series from Lauren Blakely. Connor Crais and Erin Mallon beautifully narrated this story. They perfectly captured Wesley and Josie.

Sweet and Passionate Forbidden Romance!

This is the first book in the Love and Hockey Series, a Sports Romance. Josie and Wes's forbidden romance is sweet, passionate, and engaging. I liked the banter, and the sizzling chemistry. Erin Mallon and Connor Crais did an excellent job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to The Romance Line, the next book in the series.

One night stand turns into forever

This book has so much going for it. I loved that Josie had a life list from her aunt, including a list of things the now-passed aunt wants Josie to do. The first is to have a one-night stand with a stranger. Enter Wesley, the super hot hockey player. Neither share who they are, but both really wanted more than a one night stand. Fate heard them and now they are roommates and the list goes on together. As they grow better friends the sparks from their first encounter come back to life and they want more than a short-term living arrangement. There is Josie's brother to contend with, Wes's father, and many other obstacles to jump over, but they work through those to find their HEA. I loved the focus on reading, animal shelters, as well as having dyslexia, and ways to help with that. There are so many good lessons in this book and it was a great love story. I love how this author does the research to teach us lessons while giving us so much pleasure from her wonderful stories.

Erin Mallon and Connor Crais were both so enjoyable to listen to. Perfectly matched for these characters. I loved this book and highly recommend it.

Fun and Steamy Roommates to Lovers Romance

ARC/ALC Review

This is the first book I’ve read by Lauren Blakely and I really enjoyed it.

Josie has moved across the country to temporarily work at a library and is staying with her friend until her place becomes available. The night she arrives, she is accidentally locked out and must go to the gallery show her friend is attending to get the code. When she gets there, the hostess is giving her a hard time. Wesley, the new hockey player for the Sea Dogs, sees Josie and helps her out. They end up going out which leads to a steamy one night stand. They agreed to one night only, but the more they hangout and get to know each other, the more they are falling for each other. There is couple problems though - the first is that Josie is only supposed to be there temporarily, and the second is that she is also Wesley’s new teammate’s sister.

This was such a fun and cute read! I loved Josie and Wesley’s meet cute. The “No Regrets” bucket list was such a great way for Josie to get out of her comfort zone, face her fears, and find herself. I loved that Wesley wanted to do the list with her. In the story we find out that Wesley is dyslexic and his struggles with it. I really liked the way Lauren Blakely went into detail about Wesley’s dyslexia. I felt like it was well represented and I loved that there was resources at the end of the book. I feel like the pacing and character development of the book was good. I also listened to the audiobook while reading it on my kindle, and Connor Crais & Erin Mallon did a wonderful job narrating it. I definitely recommend listening to the audiobook if you can.

Thank you Lauren Blakely and Good Girls PR for the ARC and ALC!

Loved it

The characters are realistic and relatable. The story man sense and was also very fun. The man narrators voice realllyyyy did something for me. There was a lots of spicy (though a little vanilla) some fast, and some longer.
Also I absolutely love that the man had a learning disability. As someone who also struggles with one. I could totally relate to him. I buy the audiobook and ku or physical copy with every book because it’s the only way I can. It made me really relate to him.

Entertaining

This was a cute, entertaining story that ticked numerous boxes for me. Josie has felt overlooked most of her life, but now she is coming into her own.

Meeting Wesley, the chemistry is immediate but they only have one night. When her new apartment falls through, her brother asks his teammate if he has a spare room. She is shocked when it turns out to be Wesley’s apartment.

What follows is a fun, passionate story. Although they are determined to ignore the attraction that is just as strong as it was, lines are crossed.

There was plenty of heat and humour which I have done to expect from Ms. Blakely.

Josie and Wes

Wes and Josie have a meet cute. She has a bucket list that her favorite aunt left for her to do after her death. The first one is to have a one-night stand with a stranger. They didn't get all the personal information that they needed to stay in touch. She went looking for him at the art exhibition where she met him and he went to her apartment where she was staying. They didn't connect. Unknown to each other, they have a mutual acquaintance - her brother and his hockey teammate. Her brother calls her J and Wes as his last name. Her brother asks the team if anyone has a room they can rent to J and also keep their hands off of her. Wes volunteers. Josie goes to meet her roommate after a hockey game and they find out who they are to each other. Wes decides to try to keep their roommate situation platonic. Josie tries, too. Until they can't avoid their attraction. It was wonderful that Wes decides to help Josie with her bucket list. It just gave her so much confidence. I like that Wes went to Josie's brother to talk to him. They had a wonderful relationship. This is a wonderful book. Connor Crais and Erin Mallon brought the story to life.

Lauren Blakely always casts the best narrators!

I just finished the audiobook for The Boyfriend Goal, and let me tell you, author Lauren Blakely always casts the best narrators! Connor Crais and Erin Mallon performed in duet style and they were amazing! The story itself was so good (the meet cute was top-notch!) and even though the relationship itself was "forbidden" due to the no-dating-teammates-sisters rule it was a relatively low angst story which was nice. Wesley's dyslexia paired with Josie's librarian job made for great storytelling as far as accommodations and just how darn important libraries are. I always love getting back into author Blakely's world (hello again Doctor Insomnia's!) and seeing characters visit familiar locations and it's always fun when past characters drop in. Excited for this new series!
