About this listen

Camilla Hearst is a Harlot.

God forgives little girls who don’t obey, but he forsakes women who surrender their bodies to desires of the flesh.

Raised to believe her very existence was a sin, Camilla escaped her father’s iron fist and chased the sun to Grand Haven, California, where one thing was for certain:

It’s a man’s world.

She was prepared to live in it until the day Camilla met the highest paid escort in the city - exposing an underground world where women rule like queens. Now Camilla finds herself offering her body to the highest bidder.

Falling for Grand Haven’s golden-boy and mafia attorney, Wilder Ridge, only strengthens her desire to break free from her dark past and control her own destiny. But in a society where everything has a price tag, she discovers her body isn't the only thing for sale.

So is her life.

Drama and Twists and Turns!

This is the second book in the Hush series. This is an interesting second book in the trilogy. This story is different than the first book in the series. Camilla and Wilder are both intriguing characters, and they share a sizzling chemistry. The storyline is intricate, and full of drama, filled with twists and turns. There is a lot going on in this installment. Ramona Master did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to Criminal, the next book in the series.

A good find.

I almost didn’t continue reading this story. The first quarter was a little confusing and slow going for me. It’s a good thing I hung in there. It turned out to be a beautiful romantic, passionate, sexy and vengeful story . The ending was what I was waiting for. I almost thought the author forgot about her family. The last person they had to deal with. I was hoping to get a little bit more details about that situation. Yes I’m petty that way. Still agree with the ending 🙂

So good!!!!

I couldn’t stop listening! I’m in love with Wilder and Camilla’s connection. I felt so attached to them. I wish they had another book. I would love to see more into lydia and Camilla’s lives as mafia princesses!!!

Highly entertaining story and narration!

☆☆☆☆☆
Harlot was another easy five star read for me. This is book two of the Hush series. It takes place two years after the events in Hush.
Camilla was labeled a harlot and a sinner at six years old by her crazy dad and her terrified mom. After turning 18 years old, she got as far away from them as she could. She wound up being a professional harlot working for Hush, living with the owner, Lydia Montgomery and pining after Wilder Ridge. She embraces her job and her new “found family". As her and Wilder develop a relationship, the Maria’s involvement gets more intense. Someone else wants Camilla and he always gets what he wants.
This was an angst-filled, action-packed novel woven with heartbreaking memories that had my chest getting tight. The chemistry and heat between individuals in both couples was intense and envious. I wish there was another Ridge brother I could claim but then again, I’d love to claim Wilder! I’m really looking forward to Criminal that’s kindly waiting on my kindle. I listened to this audiobook and the narrator did a top-notch job. If dark, alpha men with strong as hell women are your thing, I highly recommend this series. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

Very mixed feelings

I enjoyed Tramp a good bit, and let’s get real here- I bought Harlot for the cover. The story did have some solid points, but for me, they kind of got lost in the nonsense. There was just way too much going on in this book. Camilla’s backstory, how she was portrayed, the whole mafia thing, the supposed deal with the Coppola’s. It got ridiculous. I think this series would’ve been better if it was focused entirely on Hush or entirely on the mafia because neither aspect seemed fully fleshed out IMO. It felt contrived. I did enjoy the chemistry between Camilla & Wilder and will definitely be checking out more of Mary Elizabeth’s books. ***One caveat I’d like to add is that I am NOT meaning this as a dismissal of Camilla’s backstory. If, for example, you’ve read about Flame from Tillie Cole’s Hades Hangmen series, you’ll know that his upbringing fit his story & character. Camilla’s, at least in my experience while reading, didn’t fit at all.
