Publisher's summary

Jack and I, we did everything backward. The day he lured me into his office - which was also the first day we met - he proposed. You'd think a guy who looked like him - a bit cold maybe, but still striking and very unattainable - would only ask the love of his life to marry him, right? You'd think he must be madly in love.

Nice love story

Love the story. The narrators were great too. Highly recommend if you are a sucker for romance. I do have one dislike which is chapter 29, the last chapter. It seemed pointless to the story. All in all, it was good listening.

Slow Burn, wish there was more

It was such a slow going love, and then when they did get together the book was over too soon! I loved it just wish there was more

I just couldn't get into this long drawn out book

narrator's where good. The story was a little boring and long. Rose if married her husband inherits a Manhattan property. A lawyer proposes get married so Rose can open a coffee shop in the Manhattan property . They fall in love but there's a secret not a very good one worth your time.

Enjoyable

Although I figured out parts of the story as it went on, I wasn't completely right, and it made the story enjoyable for me. The narrators did a great job helping me forget I was listening to book. I liked the author took time to build a story instead of rushing. I enjoyed the banter between these two.

Authors and Narrators

Ella of all of your books this one is my very favorite. It was a slow steady climb with two people who are quite possibly the most unlikely to obtain marital bliss.

Stella and Lance area the perfect choice. They are so talented. They breathed life into the characters.

Male narrator was wrong choice

This was a far-fetched but fairly entertaining story. Predictable and somewhat stretched (eleemosynary get it, they kissed, a lot.) but honestly, any serious enjoyment was stolen by the poor choice of narrator. The breathy urgent delivery like everything was dire (and then she drank her water...duh, duh, duh!) made it hard to believe him when things really were dire (she was having a panic attack). Might have been a perfect choice for a heist novel or edgy lawyer story, but the producers/author missed the mark when casting for this rom-c

Nice story

Ok. First off, although I am almost exclusively a sci-if/fantasy reader, I am a sucker for romances that are about married couples. I liked this story. It is a sweet story about a woman who marries a man as a sort of business arrangement. Although I find it a bit difficult to believe the circumstances that led to this arrangement could happen in modern day, I suppose it could happen. I suspended my disbelief. I was, for the most part, glad I did.
The narrators put in a stellar performance as well.
My only real problem, and it seems to be a really big problem, is the protracted and obnoxiously detailed sex scenes. I am not interested in reading them and they are difficult to skip in an audible book. I like audible books because I can listen to them and do something else. Imagine your driving with your kids in the car and one of these scenes comes on. (I use AirPods and was forwarded by the reviews, but it could have been embarrassing. ) definitely not anywhere on my list of things I buy a book for and part of the reason I currently avoid the genre much of the time.
So. A fun semi believable story with way too many detailed blow by blow sex encounters.

Good listen

My only disappointment with the story was the heroine's reaction when she learned the truth. I liked everything else and I'm glad the author didn't drag it out to long.

Far to long...

I liked the story. And had a good idea as to the big secret at the end long before it was revealed. The major drawback is that it took far to long to get to the good part, and I am not talking about the sex.
Both main characters were well developed, almost overly developed. The flaw in the story, all 15 hours of it is that it was 15 hours for people and events that held my attention but made my after the first hour increase the playback speed so that I could continue.
The comedic aspect of the book from Rose's standpoint worked well, and his deadpan responses were after a while predictable.
Overall, I don't think I will be reading another "slow burn" romance, they are not for me, but if you like stories that take time to develop and aren't the type that guesses ahead, and don't mind medical drama then this is something you might want to try.
