About this listen

From the imaginative radio mind of writer/producer Jim French comes the tough-but-thoughtful private eye who roams the rain-swept streets of the Pacific Coast in search of crime, adventure, and enough dough to keep the office lights on for another month - Harry Nile!

It's modern radio drama produced in the classic style, with stories set in the golden age of private-eye drama. Phil Harper stars as Harry in high-powered, hard-luck radio adventures! The 21 episodes featured here include the last show of the character's 1970s run, and the first 20 episodes of his glorious return in 1990.

Thanks!! Audible for offering a second collection

As someone who has been listening to audiobooks for almost 40 years. I was really happy that, Audible, offered a second collection of Jim French's, Harry Nile series. After listening to the first collection, Seattle Blues, I was instantly hooked and was praying that, Audible would offer a second collection. Phil Harper, playing Harry Nile, was second to none. The productions are excellent, and the stories are very entertaining.. No wonder, avid audiobook listeners, truly appreciate the genius of Jim French and the outstanding work that his team had produced. I hope, Audible, will offer more, Harry Nile collections in the future. Thanks!!

Detective Theater

Plots are good to great, execution, acting, same. It's the actual audio isn't consistent from one story to the next. Almost incoherent. This has happened in a number of Audio purchases

I enjoy them more than some of the other radio shows from the golden age.

Just LOVE harry Nile!

I started with “Seattle Blues”. I liked this one much better, but the other was a very good introduction into his past. I am going to get the next in the series right away. The series is very addictive.

Later episodes are better acted

I’m a big fan of this genre and Jim French productions. There are over 300 episodes from about 1974-2020. Harry’s part is painfully overacted in much of this collection and some other parts are stiff or awkward. I think this got better in last half of 1990’s.
Audible has a few collections which I consider a bargain whereas the Jim French website has them all at high prices.
