Publisher's summary

Rule #1: No hot guys.

It might sound ridiculous. I get it. It kind of was, but college was supposed to be my sanctuary. It was my place to start over. The rumors, the whispers, and the jealousy I endured through high school would all be gone.

No one would know me at college.

Rule #2: No drama.

I'd major in pre-law. I'd make a few loyal friends. Everything would be easy-breezy. No one was going to use me or hurt me. I wouldn't let them.

Rule #3: New year. New place. New me.

Right?

Wrong.

And all because of Shay Coleman.

Football captain and quarterback, he was the big guy on campus. The cocky guy in my political science class with a smirk. I hated him on sight...and he was about to break all my rules.

Hate to Love You is a full-length standalone. There are elements that deal with the dark side of college.

not bad but good either

This is the third book I've read by this author and each one just feels like the same story plot and main characters just dressed up a little different.

Predictable, kinda unrealistic and the main character just came off as immature.

I didn't even finish the whole book and that's saying A LOT from me.

Why??? Why do politics have to takeover everything in our lives????

So I have been extremely obsessed with Tijans books ever since I first read the Fallen Crest High Series. So when I started “Hate to Love You” I was so excited. I had just got to the part where it has the discussion on abortion and before I heard any of their views on the matter I was already like seriously!? I personally love reading hate/love stories and romance stories because to me they are usually an escape from the politics and confusion that our country is going through. I hate how tijan gave the characters a political party right at the very start of the story because After that it was so hard to listen it. I believe everyone has a right to decide what political party is right for them but as an author you need to realize that people from every political party and religion is going to be reading your book. So Please! PLEASE LEAVE POLITICS OUT OF YOUR STORY!!!!!

Melodramatic Heroin

This chic is really not in touch with who she is and it shows in every facet of her life. She denies her own brother not wanting anyone to know or judge her based on... who he is yet she constantly internally dialogs on "who other people are", omg she is or he is … you would THINK someone who doesn't want to be judged based on these things wouldn't judge others based on that. Then she goes around hitting and grabbing people like a bad ass while constantly questioning EVERYTHING. To the point she can barely order food on her own. However, all that said, even though the character drives me a little bit crazy, Tijan is wonderful at creating such complex characters and you can't put down the book. It would have been better to get a bit more of Shay's background and internal dialog. A dual POV would have been better.

I love this audio!

I've listened to this book a couple of times. I like the voice, I love the story. The narrator is perfect for this story. This was one of my first audio books I listened to and it is one of the reasons I love listening to audiobooks now.

Good story

I enjoyed this novel. The narrator did an excellent job with this story, she was able to bring the different character to life and i loved it. I loved all the characters in this story with the exception of Kennedy as i thought she was quite annoying at times. Shay was my favorite and I loved him. All in all this was a good book and i would recommend it.

I’ve listened to this book so many times

Savannah Peachwood narrates this book perfectly. I believe this book is one of Tijan’s best. She has a solid list of books I enjoy, but Hate to Love You and Anti-Stepbrother are in a different category to me. They each hold a special mixture of ingredients that makes me want to experience them again and again.

Another great Tijan story

I liked the overall plot and LOVED the "hero" of the story. I normally have to warm up to the male lead but in this one he was never hard to love. perfect college setting and realistic. I even liked the female narrator (when she wasn't doing her "soft", "hurt", "crying" voice). she even had one of the best "male" voices I've ever heard. If you like new or young adult romance novels with vanilla-style sex scenes this is perfect for you.
Now for the bad: this is one of the first stories where I truly HATED the female lead. she didn't have one redeeming quality. I do think she wasn't written to be so awful originally, she just ended up looking like that. she was rude, mean, and she seemed to cause all her own issues (being left out of friendships for instance). I actually wanted the guy to realize he shouldn't be her dirty secret and find someone who was proud of him (or just wasn't awful like her). I do somewhat understand her reasoning for being so closed off but it didn't give her an excuse to be such a b*tch to so many people. not only was she just rude, but she was a bully to some for No reason (like describing girls as unattractive).
unfortunately I had to stop listening at chapter 31 because 1. It got really boring suddenly and 2. the narrator was seriously aggravating me with her "sad/broken" voice when she was vulnerable or touched or whatever. that and the fact that she takes female empowerment (I'm all for girl power) as a way to justify physically and verbally abusing guys.
