Julia Fox Garrison refused to listen to the professionals she called Dr. Jerk and Dr. Panic, who - after she suffered a massive, debilitating stroke at age thirty-seven - told her she’d probably die, or to Nurse Doom, who ignored her emergency call button. Instead she heeded the advice of kind, gifted Dr. Neuro, who promised her he would “treat your mind as well as your body.” Julia figured if she could somehow manage to get herself into a wheelchair, at least she’d always find parking. But after many, many months of hospitalization and rehab, Julia not only got into a wheelchair, but she got back out.

Story
I wanted a family with Cash. We had dreams - building a house, kids, a dog, and, yes, even the white picket fence. I don’t remember anything about my husband. Not the wedding or the vows we shared. The past 10 years were erased, but with time, they’re supposed to come back. But what if this isn’t your typical case of amnesia? What if I’m not supposed to remember? What if I was meant to forget? Maybe I don’t want my old life back. Because if the accident hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have uncovered the truth. Losing my memory wasn’t tragic. Losing my memory was fate.

Overall, I liked the story and think it was a perfect length. After a point, I had a feeling Adele was still in “patient mode,” but it was still a great listen. Whenever authors add in something personal at the end, I’m all for it.
The narrator did a good job. I assume, maybe, that she sounded so bored(?) because of the character’s vibe, which worked. So hopefully, that’s why she sounded the way she did. Otherwise, she needs some work.
Enjoyed it!
