Uplifting and encouraging

Ted is brutally honest about his past experience, baring it all for the benefit of the reader. From this place of color ability, he is able to share is healing journey with reality-based and practical guidance for others to follow. A quick read, this story told in his own words is powerful and inspiring.

Wonderful eye opener

I currently have about an hour left if the book but I couldn’t wait to write my review. Ted is real and gives wonderful examples of his life but also other things that he didn’t personally experience. This assists you in taking inventory of your relationship with your friends/work/spouse/ self to assess your situation because abuse isn’t solely what Ted went through. There are many facets. His recommendations are helpful to point you in the right direction if you don’t know what step to take next. I thought I made great strides in my life but this book helped me see where I still could use improvement. I plan on listening again and recommending it to others.

Another similar story without real resolve

The author clearly is still codependent; going from a high school relationship into a gay relationship with an adult as a minor for 15 years just to jump into another long term relationship 5 months after… makes me wonder how someone who has never been non-codependent can author and feel good about a book about personal growth and change when at the conclusion of the book they are in the same situation but with a “different mindset”… codependent people can’t write a book about being not codependent.

Also; hints of his own narcissistic personality come through.. this feels like another person who’s made minimal steps to grow and change their life but celebrating bombastically these minimal baby steps they’ve taken to not a lot of change; then setting out to try and capitalize on other peoples self doubt and desire to grow and change…. But without really providing more then a few reflective points in the entire book. Good for you that you learned you didn’t want to tolerate an alcoholic and thanks for your story… but not much else to dive into here.. Not worth the time or money.
