Publisher's summary

One of beloved author Debbie Macomber’s classic novels, this is a heartwarming story of hope and possibility.

Skye Garvin treasures her work as a volunteer in the pediatric ward of the local hospital. Bringing even a small amount of joy to a suffering child - whether through her playful attitude or her gift for music - is a blessing that Skye cherishes. But due to overcrowding, her favorite young patient’s new roommate is an adult - a man who catches Skye completely off guard. Despite his gruff exterior, Skye is compelled to help the unnerving man. But the old scars of personal tragedy - and a fundamental difference of faith - might undermine Skye’s chances at a happy ending.

Jordan Kiley can’t imagine anything more frustrating than his current situation. A car accident has left him confined to a hospital bed, his arm painfully pinned in traction. He can’t even feed himself. But when he first lays eyes on the beautiful volunteer, he knows there are far greater challenges awaiting him. Astutely, he senses that Skye’s sparkling wit hides a heart that has been unbearably broken. And Jordan has deep secrets of his own. Can he convince Skye that she is worthy of love - and earn her heart in the process?

“It’s impossible not to cheer for Macomber’s characters.... When it comes to creating a special place and memorable, honorable characters, nobody does it better than Macomber.” --BookPage

Debbie’s first book!

I love Debbie’s Macomber’s books and it was great to hear this was her first book. In the introduction, Debbie explains she had to cut a lot of the original story because the publisher wanted a shorter story! Now Debbie was able to put it all back in!

I was pleased to see how God was woven throughout the story. I also loved the family connection.

sweet, refreshing, vibrant

remember how it was 30 years ago, then this is a beautiful gem.
Characters are human with human frailties and I can say, yes, I enjoyed it again .
Thanks

Amazing story!!!

Wow...such a great story of romance and faith! Pleasantly surprised with a breath of fresh air and no graphic details. Im so glad for the change of pace and greatful she has put all of her books on audio! She states this was her first book written long ago. I see why she continued to write! Bravo!!!

Great book

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were real and easy to identify with. I am not sure I would make the same decisions they made but that didn’t make the book any less enjoyable. I really enjoy this author and will continue to listen a read her books. The narrator did a good job and it was enjoyable to listen to her read. I would recommend both to others.

could not finish this one

I had no idea this story had any religious tone to it. I had a hard time relating to that context and had to stop listening. The portion of the story I heard was very predictable and over done. A disappointment.

BORING

I've been listening to this book allllll week but can only do short segments at a time because I find myself thinking about other things because this story is just soooo boring.... I don't know if I will even finish it.

No character development

This was tough to finish. I hate not finishing books so I did finish it and I LOVE and appreciate romance books that don’t have all the filth, but this was not well written. I didn’t even understand that she was falling in love with this guy that she only described as gruff and rude and short tempered and not even super attractive. A lot of romances start with a flawed character but she fell in love with him before he had any redeeming qualities. Not my favorite 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I am grateful for a clean romance.
