About this listen

Dear Listener, You don't know me yet, but in a few hours that's going to change. You see, I'm inviting you to my home and my town of Cedar Cove, because I want you to meet my family, friends, and neighbors. Come and hear their stories - maybe even their secrets! I have to admit that my own secrets are pretty open. My marriage failed some years ago, and I have a rather...difficult relationship with my daughter, Justine. Then there's my mother, Charlotte, who has plenty of opinions and is always willing to share them. Here's an example: I'm a family court judge, and she likes to drop in on my courtroom. Recently, I was hearing a divorce petition. In Charlotte's view, young Cecilia and Ian Randall hadn't tried hard enough to make their marriage work - and I agreed. So I rendered my judgement: Divorce Denied. Well, you wouldn't believe the reaction! Thanks to an article by Jack Griffin, the editor of our local paper (and a man I wouldn't mind seeing more of!), everyone's talking. Cedar Cove - people love it and sometimes they leave it, but they never forget it! See you soon...Olivia Lockhart, 16 Lighthouse Road, Cedar Cove, WashingtonP.S. Warm and welcoming

Ideal listening for a winter afternoon in front of a roaring fire. Delightful characters who one gets to know well. I missed the characters when I reached the final chapter.

16 Lighthouse Road

I truly enjoyed the first Debbie Newcomer book I read. This book had a few too many predictable sequences for my liking. I will read on, however. Thank you!

Good Story, Lousy Narrator

Many characters, every one with an interesting story. I enjoyed the story enough to continue with the series, but the narrator sounded just like a telephone operator, mechanical and impersonal. I will read the rest of the series the old fashioned way.

Performance to robot like

I like the story of the book but the performance is lacking. She sounds like a robot at times and so stiff and all the men sound like they’re 80.

An Interesting Beginning To A Romance Series

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I got this book on a Daily Deal promotion for under $5. I would not have purchased it at full price or use a credit, as I like my books a bit more racy with more spice and 'bedroom' action.

That being said, this is a NICE, SWEET romance book, not raunchy or descriptive in the intimate scenes-leaving you to decide how to interpret. A lot of romance, several stories intertwined within the one book. The characters include a judge, her 'helpful' elderly mother, a couple young couples, a disappearing husband, etc. It is funny, feel good and the book does take on some heavy material, characters deal with the death of an infant, another with a miscarriage.

I look forward to reading more in the series-though I hope to get them on sale.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoyed Charlotte-the elderly mother of the judge. She is clever and funny without meaning to be. She stumbles on to her own mystery and is determined to figure it out.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I felt the narrator was above average, though she did sound more believable with the older characters.

Any additional comments?

NOTE: No graphic content nor cursing. A nice, contemporary romance.

Town of Your Dreams!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this whole series! Debbie whisks you away to a coastal town where if you are looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right you will most possibly meet them here. I love how you feel like you know each character as your own neighbors and friends. If only there were really towns like this where everyone for the most part shows kindness what a great world this would be!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that each character is described so well that you can actually picture them in your head. You really feel like you know them as friends not just characters in a book. Listening to the story really helps to visualize these characters more so than just reading words on a page.

What does Sandra Burr bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is such a great character reader, she really gives each character a distinct and different voice and is so consistent that you think there has to be more than one reader.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found myself looking forward each evening to read about what everyone is doing. I gasp when things surprise me and actually teared up when the characters found lost love ones or if someone you feel you know passed away.

Any additional comments?

I recommend not only the Cedar cove series but her other series as well. You will be swept away into all the stories!
