About this listen

Charlotte's heart has been hardened by personal tragedy, but now she has the chance to find peace in a place she didn't expect.

Charlotte Dolinsky arrives in Lancaster County with brand new Amish digs and a renewed purpose. It doesn't take her long to fit into the close Amish community. She might not know how to cook, sew, tend a garden, or milk a cow, but she knows how to lie. And she is a woman on a mission - to wreak havoc on the Plain people and seek revenge for the death of her only brother. But a quiet stranger throws a kink in her plan not long after she arrives. As she delves deeper and deeper into what makes this handsome Amish man tick, she begins to wonder about her intentions and the direction her life is taking.

At 24, Isaac Miller is still unmarried and doesn't see his status changing anytime soon. The Lord has blessed him with above-average physical attributes, but his awkward shyness keeps him from pursuing a relationship with anyone. When Charlotte - or "Charlie" as she calls herself - arrives in Paradise, she steals his heart, and he longs to be a different man.

Can Charlie get past the resentment she feels and open her heart? What happens when Isaac comes out of his shell, drawing attention from all the available women in the area? Will Charlie be able to hold onto him? And will he still want her when he learns the truth?

Great Story, Not So Good Narrator

Only reason I finished listening was the story was very interesting & different than the other Amish “romance” audiobooks.
Narrator reads it with all characters sounding the same & chapters run into each other. She doesn’t even tell you it’s the next chapter. You have to figure out on your own that the scene is completely different, a different place altogether, with different characters than the last sentence she read.
But it wasn’t so bad that I stopped it & returned it like I have with a few other audiobooks.
It really does has a wonderful güte ending.

Such an amazing book

I have grown to love the author, Beth, Wiseman, and the narrator. She was amazing her soft, kind voice made it also real.

Alway a pleasure

I really enjoyed the story but the reader, not so much. She lacked dimension. Her voice was flat & the sentences ran together without pause.
Beth Wiseman is a favorite author of mine so I listened throughout. Another great book Beth. Thank you

Good story with very poor editing and narrator

It's unfortunate that this wonderful story line was subjected to such a poorly chosen narrator. She lacked significantly in vocal emotional range and the ability to really pull off a variety of characters. Add to that the poor audio editing with no pauses between sentences making it difficult to follow who was speaking at times and you have a book that I wouldn't recommend for audiobook listeners.

Breathless, no pauses

This was a very enjoyable story. Because the story and writing was so interesting, I don't have much time to "read" I continued to listen. However, the performance/recording was disappointing. There were barely any pauses at the end of sentences. There was a lack of emotion. The reading often sounded like panting. It would be beneficial to have this book re-recorded.

Poor Performance

The reader of this book does a terrible job. I tried to power through it bc I wanted to finish the story, but ultimately stopped.
