About this listen

Will new friends almost ruined by their husbands find the strength to fight for each other?

Abi’s life has been turned upside down by her husband’s death - in more ways than she could ever have imagined. With his dodgy business dealings now exposed, gone is her glamorous lifestyle and the trust of her family and friends. How could the man who said he loved her have betrayed her so spectacularly?

Abi’s new neighbour Lucinda and her four-year-old son Max are struggling to overcome their own betrayal by Max’s violent, vengeful father. The pieces of Lucinda’s life seem finally to be coming together when she is given a new identity and finds an ally in Abi. But an unexpected twist throws both women’s lives into fresh turmoil.

Faced with a tougher time than they ever thought possible, Abi and Lucinda turn to each other. It’s an unlikely friendship built on common ground - but is it strong enough to help them rebuild their lives from rock bottom?

Another great book

I’ve listened to several of Louise Guy books. Love her stories are always thrilling, but still uplifting. Candice Moll narrated beautifully.

Scary story of child kidnapping

Kept my interest to the end. The interplay of relatives who wish to keep children under the thumb and being paid off seemed a little unlikely but still very readable. Liked setting in Australia.

A page turner

Couldn't put the book down. Every character added excitement and mystery to the story. I listened on audio and that made it even better.

Okay

It took me a bit, but I’m glad I stuck with and finished this one. Lucinda’s story drove me nuts, for someone so paranoid and who looks over her shoulder she really was clueless and it just wasn’t believable. I felt so bad for Abi throughout and cheered her on non stop. Hayden’s character was very frustrating, who allows Theo 16 year old to speak to them or act this way?!?! This was a decent story about friendship and hope.

Sweet story

I loved the story of Abie and Lucinda how their lives converge. Their story lines are predictable but that was fine for a mindless read. I did however hope there was another villain in the end. I would love to have seen a few more positive things happen but considering that life is messy… it was good. Gabe was a creep and deserved to suffer
