Publisher's summary

In this life-affirming tale from bestselling author Amanda Prowse, one woman built a new life to escape her humiliation. Now, can she put the shame behind her and finally find happiness?

Young and desperately in love, Merrin had the whole world ahead of her. But just as her new life was about to start, the ground beneath her feet was cruelly swept away. Devastated by the humiliation, she ran far away from the beloved fishing village she had always called home to lick her wounds and escape her gossiping friends and neighbors.

It hasn’t been easy, but six years later Merrin has forged a new life for herself far from the sea, burying the impulsive girl she once was. But when tragedy strikes, she has no choice but to return to the village she swore she’d never set foot in again.

Reluctantly back in the arms of her community, Merrin begins to realize what she’s been missing out on all these years. As she begins to remember the person she used to be, she is forced to make choices about her future, and to question the past. What does she want from her life? Who is important to her? Who is to blame for everything that went wrong? And can she forgive them, let old wounds heal and finally be her true self again?

Another triumph for Prowse

Prowse explores love, loss, and redemption as only she can in this novel set on the coast of Cornwall. With deeply nuanced characters and plot twists I didn’t see coming, I couldn’t put this down. The author’s skillful narration makes this a joy.

A roller coaster of a read that I simply couldn’t

I’ve long been a lover of Prowse’s books. She has the most incredible ability to reach into the very heart of peoples emotions, so that reading them feels as though you are right there with them.
This was beautiful, crafted in a way that had perfect pace, and which it was impossible not to be drawn into the tumult of emotion.
I cried… no correction… I sobbed along with Merrin and her family, right through the very end.
I recommend to anyone who loves stories that portray real emotions and the kind of things that happen to everyone during their lifetime.

This is a story about loss and heartache but also one of love that comes in many forms.

Amanda Prowse has proven time and time again to be a captivating story teller! Merrina is young girl that after having her heart broken, realizes that she’s stronger than she believed and surrounded by the unconditional love of family and friends.

Another story supporting week characters for values

One painful experience, and the main character turns into a basket case, typical of this young generation that can’t take any hardship without collapsing, and becoming self absorbed, not taking anyone else into consideration, but their own little world.
I’m surprise this author romanticizes this kind of behavior /weakness and that so many people gave it such great reviews

Sweet merrin

A sweet story set on the English coast. Merrin is such a lovable character, although her happy ending came quick and didn’t feel so right. (I’m team Miguel). This was a beautiful tale of love and loss and love again.
