About this listen

Danny McIntyre gets an urgent call that his best friend Philip is in critical condition after a boat crashes off the shores of Aberdeen. When the doctor bears grim news that there’s a good chance that he might never walk again, even after a vital surgery. Danny, Susan, David, and Heather are forced to reconcile that with what little holiday time they have left.

Heather tries to distract them with day trips to places like Loch Ness and Perth’s galleries in order to cope with the emotional trauma. While David uses logic and medical research to control his dark thoughts. Susan and Danny must decide whether to find a way to maintain a long-distance international relationship, or cut their losses early.

How will Danny cope if he loses both his best friend and the love of his life?

Scottish Whisky!

This is the second installment in the "Scottish Whisky" series about Susan and Danny. It is a fairly short quick read/listen and does end with a very dreaded cliffhanger. There are five parts to their story so they need to be read in order. Susan and Danny meet while she is in Scotland with her friend. The begin seeing each other. In this segment Danny gets some tragic news. Heather tries to keep them busy. Susan and Danny make a decision. I enjoyed this story and thought the narrator did a really good job with the accents. I look for to the next segment of Danny and Susan's story.

Romance takes a back seat

Susan and Danny are hitting it off carefully building a relationship until Danny learns that his best friend is injured in a boat crash. The same boat trip that Danny should have been on and would have had it not been for Susan! Faced with guilt and an urgency to reach his friend, Danny rushes to the hospital in Aberdeen. Between David’s condition and stress, Danny and Susan’s time together is passing quickly. Heather continues being Heather – the tour guide hoping to ease everyone’s tension. The time comes when Danny and Susan must decide it a long-distance relationship will work for them or not. What Danny does not share with Susan is his idea of a business opportunity he is hoping to make a reality.
Aila Skye, the author, is masterful at building a story with depth and completeness that leaves the listener wanting more. Careful with her character development, she takes her time building each character fully and completely.
The narrator, Alexa Teebo, gives a solid performance. Her ability to give each character a unique voice makes following the story easy. Her ability to switch from one dialect to another is flawless.
This is a good solid romantic story with an international flair.
There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. It was clear and crisp.

Boating Accident

Book 2. Danny was supposed to go on a trip with his pal Philip, but begged off to spend more time with Susan. Tragic accident, the boat crashed resulting in Philip in critical condition. Eventually Susan has to go back to the states, although she delays it a bit. Do they even try to keep a long distance relationships? Good story, and well develop characters. Narration was well done.
