Luke Knight thinks he can own me, can hurry me into a wedding and then into his bed. He seems to know everything about me. But he’s missed the most important point - I’m dastardly. He thinks he’s my one and only? Not a chance. But I like his estate and all his money, so I’ll bide my time. I don’t obsess over his good looks and the way he makes me feel. Not a bit. Once he’s dead, I’ll be more than happy to be the grieving widow...on a yacht...in the Seychelles...drenched in diamonds. Cassandra truly believes I’m the bad guy in her world. She’s wrong. I can show her how much she means to me. It will take time and coaxing, but I’ll prove to her our love is deep and true. If she tries to knife me a few times along the way, what of it? After all, a spirited woman is exactly what I need, and Cassandra Carlisle was made for me.

this was a lot of fun. If you think too deeply about how Cassandra’s been coerced and desired/used for her body by her parents, tutors, and now the husband who bought her, you might go nuts trying to figure out why his brand of control is okay.
You’ll also want to brace for the cat euphemisms, like him thinking about how he’ll tame her,
make her purr, and have her eating out of his hands.
At novella length, this is all about the cat-ate-the-canary set up and the sexy times that ensue when a tomcat and a kitten both get to scratch that itch.
She doth protest too much - and I was there for it

There is a lot that you don't know when you start this book, but as you read it, you find out what brought them to where the book starts. Luke was all-in immediately and I loved that. Even when Cassandra was threatening Luke, he was still very supportive of her and her choices. Yeah, he was stalkerish in the way he found out all about her, but it was a sweet stalkerish. Cassandra cracked me up with the threats as did Luke's reaction to them. I loved their happy ever after. I definitely recommend reading this book. Or listening to it!

This book literally uses the PRECISE SAME LANGUAGE as the book I just finished.
** Can one plagiarize oneself?????
I am talking word for word in some scenes.
Besides that, there is NO story. NADA. ZIP.
I cannot stress this enough.
** What you listened to in the audio sample is essentially all there will ever be.
Zero character development. There is no tension as they consummate the marriage immediately and then have quasi-interesting sex that is unrealistic and unimaginative.
I love the female narrator.
Although the male has a beautiful voice he was overacting, I repeatedly pleaded for him to please shut up already!
I cannot trust this author after literally reading a clone of like 75% of her previously read book.
What?

Is it worth a credit? It’s a maybe 🤔 yes or maybe a no. 🤷🏼♀️
