The Gamble pays off

Biggar has given readers a well written story with believable characters who take a gamble with their hearts. I enjoyed the push and pull between Matt and Cassandra.

The narrator does a good job giving the characters a voice and bringing the story to life. This is a relatively short audiobook that can be finished on a day trip in the car.

I recommend this audiobook to fans of the contemporary sweet romance genre.

Betting your Heart

When a professional gambler wins a big hand in a poker game, he gets more than he bargains for in this classic fake fiancee story - another installment in the Shaunessey family series.
I loved cowboy Matt and his interplay with Casandra, the always proper and very engaged Canadian princess. The subterfuge of the fake engagement and the "off stage" presence of the real fiance create an interesting tension ... and then there's the sexual tension and unavoidable attraction between the cowboy and the princess.
A well written and well read romance.

Wedding Wager

The last thing that Matt expected when he sat down to play cards was that he would end up with a fake fiancée for a week and an engagement ring. It’s the perfect solution as it will give his grandmother peace before she passes.

Cassandra’s father has a gambling problem, but she never expected that she would end up being the wager when he ran out of chips especially since her wedding date is two weeks away. Having no other option, she agrees to the farce and heads to Texas. Let the games begin!

This is a heartwarming romantic story filled with great secondary characters that draw you in. Cassandra and Matt have a deep connection but is it enough to end her engagement? I thought the narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the author.

Hold 'Em

Would you consider the audio edition of Hold 'Em to be better than the print version?

Actually, I like both versions. I often read the book and form my own idea of how voices sound and the speed of reading etc. I like the audio version when I can't sit down to read and can listen while doing chores etc. and still enjoy the story.

Have you listened to any of Daniel F. Purcell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, one other book that he narrates for Jacquie Biggar and he does a great job .

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it is a nice length to be able to listen to all at once . Plus, the story is so good that you want to keep on listening to see what will happen next.

Any additional comments?

Matt and Cassandra are a country meets city couple.Matt is a cowboy rancher and professional gambler that loves his family and his home and will do anything to keep them happy. Cassandra is an engaged “city girl” used to the finer things in life and has a dad that is a gambler . The way they meet is quite interesting but I won't give away any spoilers! (Oh, and we can’t forget about Chewy, the Chihuahua either.)This story has some touching moments and a bit of humor too. I enjoyed this opposites attract ,fun, cute, sweet story.
