Great introduction and detailed practice technique

This work is great for beginners, an awesome guide to understanding voodoo for what it truly is. Rather than condemn the ancient spiritual practice, the author celebrates the culture and pays homage to the growth of its history and the people connected to it. In her explanation of how it came to the west/US is subtle yet informative, and sheds light on how the spiritual practice came to be viewed as a negative form of black magic.

how Haiti's Vodou has influenced America's Voodoo

her focus remains on Haitian Vodou - she doesn't dis-include some information about the connections with American ("New Orleans") Voodoo and gives a stable understanding of how Haiti's Vodou has influenced America's Voodoo. And as a person with some decades of scholarly participation in American Voodoo, who has been intimately guided into Haitian Vodou,

Not too good on Haitian Vodou

As an initiate, some of the processes are towards terms. But the workings known as travail are wrong and too hoodoo. Also, several descriptions of law are wrong. Much of Vodou is secret. Other audible have a better understanding. It seems this author's influential point is not Vodou but rather hoodoo.

This audible was a good listening

You will how this work included recipes, rituals, origins of different voodoo/ hoodoo practitioners, a glossary for different herbs and oils, its all the information a person may need for beginning their spiritual journey in one place if a person wants more education get this work!! , I didn't like how short the author made the work, people will be so pulled in by all of the information provided they will finish the audible before they know it,

Mojo Paradox

Our default response in life is not to experience enjoyment. Our defaulting response in life is not to experience meaning. Our default comeback in life is to experience inertia."

Mojo is that positive spirit

The audible then expands on what are the foundational elements of Mojo: "Four vital ingredients need to be combined for you to have great Mojo. The first is your identity...The second element is an achievement...The third element is reputation...

An intimate literary tour of Haitian Vodou

I don't agree with reviewers who sense a strong sense of "you've got to be Haitian" point-of-view in this audible. What I get is that it's important to understand the history and succeeding ways of thinking and possession inherent in Haiti to truly understand Haitian Vodou.

misinformed about what hoodoo and Voudou

Highly misinformed about what hoodoo and Voudou are. I grew up in both realms of this. None of what she wrote was correct...from “raising the undead” and stating that “Voudou is an adaptable practice”. Go ahead and try to change what you think it is and find out the hard way. End up messing your whole life up coming to the Law. If you want real info, talk to an actual practitioner, please.
